I grew up on this food and what a comfort it was! Kept me on the toilet sometimes, but as I grew up I learned to use less oil and butter and sugar in things and it still tastes great! God bless our ancestors and all the great cooks who passes down these great recipes.

Nice video. Sweetie Pie's is on my bucket list. I'm glad Oprah likes Sweetie Pie's. I've visited many St. Louis restaurants. I don't have a favorite restaurant anywhere in the world. I don't like showing favoritism & I like visiting as many new places because it's like going on vacation to different places. I enjoy visiting down-home, moderate, & upscale. I don't care about dining building as long as people who cook the food are decent kind folks & food is good. That's what matters most to me.

I can imagine God putting a star in Ms Robbie's mom crown, for teaching her a cooking skill. My mom was also an excellent cook, in my book the best, something like Ms.Robbie. I only wish I had paid more attention to my mama cooking, growing up. Being the baby, of the family, my two older sister, and my mama did all the cooking, and they just let me play outside, with my friends, and that was great, to me. But of course I washed dishes, that we alternated days, to do. But my sister's grew up, to be excellent cooks, like my mama, and here I am now trying to learn how to cook good. Which is why I watch Ms. Robbie's shows. She is a very hard worker, and overlooks her staff cooking, allowing no room for mistakes, because her name is on it. I absolutely see why her restaurants were so successful. So I'm re-learning what my mama tried, to teach me, to add another star, to my mama's crown. I just see cooking is such an excellent skill, and every parent should teach it to their children, from a young age, both boys and girls. It's a survival skill.

When you prepared this dish did you use a glass pan or aluminum foil pan? Also was the cheese on top slightly burnt because I prefer my cheese to be perfectly melted?

Enough butter, margarine & cheese to harden your arteries!!! My mom was a great cook too and she used a lot of butter, margarine, sugar, salt, seasonings, grease, gravies, sauces in her recipes...(but not as much in her Macaroni & Cheese recipe)!!! My mom passed away on over 4 years ago and today, we ALL have some type of illness (from obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, acute heart disease, kidney damage to cancer)!!! If my text, can help just 1 person, stay healthy & alive...then I want to encourage today...to start drinking 64 oz of water per day and decrease your consumption of coffee & energy drinks! Eat more fruits, nuts, fiber & vegetables with each meal! Avoid the sugar, salt, spicy, grease, highly seasoned food, loaded with butter!!! Try baking, grilling, rotisserize or broiling your meats; Bake or oven fry potatoes & meats; Grill vegetables on grill or in the oven with olive oil or canola oil! Get away from deep frying foods, cooking with a lot of butter, sugar, cheese & grease!!! Word to this generation and the future generations to come!!!

When I first made miss Robbie's mac and cheese I made it for the first lady of my church and ever since then she always ask me to make it for every event even a personal pan for her her family I had to invite her over dinner because she wants some more that mac and cheese is the bomb . I can see why she charge so much for a meal because you have to look at what she spends for the ingredients to make the meal it's going to cost you the same thing its going to cost her and then she's cooking it you ain't washing the dishes you just sitting there getting full sounds like a plan

How we do baby! I make Mac and cheese the same way, always have minus the colby jack, and I add a bit of nutmeg with the sugar! Always used Velveta, the best! I always used Buttermilk because that's what was used as she said back in the day! But then I come from and old family of strong southern cooks!
