@John Rosebush i luckily did it in my second try, my tip is always be full health if possible, he usually uses the move 3 to 4 times during a fight, if one of your characters is above 4000hp you should be able to survive.

I’m sure most of you have done it already, but if haven’t my tip is save your limit for Bahamut. You wouldn’t need limit for anything else so use it for this. Tifa’ s limit alone would suffice as long as you Starshower just before it to boost the damage.

Yeah I got to Sephiroth on first try, then died many times, clicked stupidly to get back to first battle, and then couldn’t get to Sephiroth again :/ damn too many battles with no save in between.

Not only this battle but then the sephiroth battle too, the first time i got close on sephiroth, got his bar down to within a centimetre of killing him when he then goes mental and unleashes meteor and the countdown begins...... i checked as i reloaded 1:01:18 from the last save point, that i will never get back (yet i still had another dozen goes before killing him finally) teach me for not grinding and levelling up to trophy level eh lol

Whisper Bahamut one shotted my squad....restart battle...loads at the fate gate, gotta do it all over. I say that I miss that element from older games, but very frustrating today. Especially after boss gauntlet you faced up to this point. Thanks for the tips.

Guys just save your Limit moves for Bahamut. I just killed him in 5 secs using them. Tifa's and Cloud's Limit moves did the trick. Just use them as soon as he forms! ;)

There are many awesome bosses in the game, but this one is the worst for me. They’re very cheap! No elemental weaknesses and unfair combos. That special attack from Bahamut is ridiculous.

I have the perfect guide: meditated 20 minutes before the fight to allow my ego to soften and diminish,after my ego is staggered I quickly use my ATB to switch into easy mode and it just one shots the boss and sephiroth,gg

My advice in general (for normal) is since this is all one long battle; try to activate, then save, your limits and summon until bahamut pops up. Then wail on him with everything. I got him to half with with cross slash, summoned leviathan. Did a lot of running and waited for summon to use ultimate.

I got all thru the game this far without looking up a guide, and just now I realize that to use Curaga you need to press right or you'll just use cure. So that's why I'm healing so little 🤣. Fights are gonna be a lot easier.

It was the same for me. I had gone the entire game not watching a single video or anything but when I got to the arsenal vs barret and areito fight I literally was stuck. I was doing no damage, just running around and healing and I genuinely wasn’t progressing at all. That was the first one I looked up. From someone who has played the original as a kid and recently. I have to admit, they went a little too far off here before leaving Midgar. Poorly design boss fight, and also a bit annoying that you’re pretty much fighting boss after boss before going to this.

I think aside from the Whisper Harbinger and Sephiroth, the game has all the same bosses from the original, with a couple new ones thrown in or repurposed. The original always had you fight Rufus, then Heligunner, then Motorball almost back to back to back. I think they just felt they needed to have the first game in the remake end with a bang. The end felt like it went on for a really long time with these last 2 fights, so I feel you on that.

Keep everyone topped off above 50% hp, have barrier on if you can, but the true key is to hold on to a Limit Break. Cloud basically destroyed him as soon as I used his limit break. The whole bahamat part lasted about 20 seconds. He got 2 moves off before he died. My first attempt didn't go so well lol. Sephiroth was actually more annoying honestly.

Update: I was able to beat Whispers & Sephiroth finally thanks all for tips. Saving Limits for Bahamut was key. Also using Haste on everyone against Sephiroth and just keep Cloud chopping him up.

The most annoying fight in the game on hard mainly cuz there are no check points smh. becomes more manageable once you become familiar with it though.

This fight forced me to use clouds punisher mode counter. Just go into punisher and wait. This is really advantageous as it builds up ATB guage and does damage to the opponent while taking minimum damage. After that, you just spam spells with aerith. Heal and what not. Save your limits and summon for the second last dragon part.

Do whatever you can in the previous encounters to get your limit break up BEFORE reaching the Bahamut encounter. I made the other encounters drag out so that I could get my limit break and then top off my health. The limit break right off of the bat was huge for me (thanks SweetJohnnyCage). After beating Whisper Bahamut I wanted to celebrate but then the whispers started beating me up haha. I was NOT expecting what came next though...

After clearing this boss fight, I tried to use my summon RIGHT at the end to get the last hit but nope... you HAVE to hit the boss yourself for it to count. All party member hits or summon hits are pretty much ignored. SAVED IT FOR NOTHING

What's insane about this is the Harbingers might be the advent children Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz. After they are defeated, Bahumut is summoned just like in the movie.

I was thinking the same thing! Kadaj uses a sword, Loz uses a fist weapon and Yazoo uses a gun. And then the Bahamut/dragon form. Also Advent Children is two years after FF7

The Harbringers is possibly also a reflection of Cloud, Barret, and Tifa though. Sword = Cloud, Gun = Barret, Fists = Tifa.

I managed to beat Bahamut by using multiple limit attacks, summoning Ifrit and casting magnify heal/barrier on all characters right before it's power move. It only caused around 45% damage due to my strong defence, and once my summon used his final charge the boss was left with a small percentage of health (which I finished off by using strong magic spells while switching between characters so it's focus remained on non-casting party members).

This wasn't hard at all, in fact I believe this was easier than most of the bosses that I've fought throughout the game, i feel like it was rather focused on the story in this fight rather than the actual battle. But it can just be me so....

normal difficulty and lower it is quite manageable and there damage is quite low compared to your health. Where Luck comes into play is the Hard mode version of this fight, where it is quite easy to get chain hit stunned to death before you can even react

For some reason whenever I die to Bahamut, I get sent back to the very beginning where I'm on the high way. I then have to go through the entire fight again. This continued onto the next fight after the whispers (which I won't spoil). Btw I'm pressing "retry from last battle" and it still sends me back. I'm just getting frustrated since the fight with Bahamut is difficult and I managed to beat him once, but still got sent back after I died to the boss after. This was probably an intentional game design, but it still frustrates me lmao.

Yea Bahamut is just part of the whispers fight, not a separate fight altogether. Something else I noticed while playing, and this one I chalked up to keeping it like the original, is that if you reset the fight with The Arsenal, it sends you back to just before the Rufus fight. In the original, the save crystal was only available before Rufus, so this was a back-to-back fight like that.

This fight wasn’t bad on hard mode. In fact, it was probably the easiest fight in the whole game, lol. Crab Warden is second for me. I had more issues with Abzu. The Airbuster is right next to difficult, lol. I know we all hate Hellhouse on hard mode! 😂 The whole strat took time but it paid off.

Awful combat system lol. So the AI just autofocuses the player character that's what makes the combat on ff7r so terrible during boss fight. Basically if you don't have limit breaks ready this fight is going to be very difficult because of the ai autolock, Enix could do with fixing that, just destroys any tactical play.

It's quite frustrating that you can't get a character to effectively tank enemies. I think that's my only personal gripe with the combat system. Hopefully it's handled differently in Part 2.

So.....I'm one of those people that had absolutely no idea until after this fight that the remake was in installments and this disc only covers Midgar. I was absolutely thrilled with it and the expansive changes and anticipating a good 200 hour marathon........but now it's over. I thought it was the whole game. I handled this boss easily and then let them fucking die in the final battle out of spite after confirming it.....and I'm not touching it until part 2 is out. I'm going to play the original now to try and love myself again....

I failed two times because of the freaking whisper bahamut, I thought there was gonna be checkpoint as usual, but nope, I should do it from the start. I couldn't skip cutscenes as well, so yeah I switched to easy difficulty because I don't have so much time for playing video games bc of work. But after finishing the game on easy somehow I felt empty😅

I believe the problen lies in the Sephiroth battle. If you want to quit your game you have to redo the entire battle with the whispers.

The 3 things that turn into a dragon cheaply combo shot my entire team into oblivion and everytime i try to revive them or heal they hit me and stop it but the game still takes away my mp and gauge so i cant try again. Cheap. Awful game imo. I did not enjoy my time with it at all and when i died and got sent all the way back to the gate? Took the game out, uninstalled it and will never touch this crap again. i cant stand the ATB mechanic, its the most frustrating thing in the universe when you know EXACTLY what you need, but the game straight up refuses to give it to you, so then the only thing you can do is die, because the rest of your team is dead, you have no ATB, you cant revive everyone, and cant heal everyone, the game literally doesnt allow me to play, because of a fucking gauge

@@SweetJohnnyCage i havent been using it because i dont understand what it that does in this style of battle what i mean is that the ATB is meant to be actively charged through attacking your opponent, but the game has tons of bosses that have gimmicks that are immune to attacking, so you just have to sit there, and be useless, until your gauge fills on its own, the battle is in a complete halt because it barely charges on its own
