This is how defeat Shiva quickly in the final top secret battle on hard. She's the only one though that can be stopped I think. I chain stop two times while she is staggered. It's OP. put it on Tifa casud her atb fills so fast you can cast stop and use your triangle.

The issue with infinity End is that it caps at 9999 and take 2 atb bars. Braver and Blade Burst (for magic build) can do 6k to 8k maybe low 9k with certain enemies and build. That takes 1 bar so you can do 12k to 16k for 2 bars instead of 9999

Also, you can skip both motorcycle minigames (on chapters 4 and 18 respectively). Keep at it, man. You'll get it in no time. Just savor it every step of the way. The game is worth it.

Counterstance is so underrated. Mitigates incoming damage and deals it out big. Really helped me with the M.O.T.H unit with it's spinning blades. I was hopeless against it before I realized.

Brilliant idea. I have square for counteratance, triangle for focused thrust, circle for disorder (just figured out recently how damn good that is at laying 20+ hit combos on enemies) and x for triple slash. I really hope rebirth goes all out with the quick select button bindings. I really like the pause time for ATB but I think some more real time stuff so it doesn’t feel like you’re pausing every 2 seconds would be great

This build combined with a support/prayer build character will make most of hard mode a breeze. Just make sure on the support character you have magnify+barrier for the manawall against enemies which fire off strong magic attack (im looking at you Bahamut :P) . You could even have Time materia in the spare slot of this build and cast haste on the support member to enable even faster ATB for them.

I really hope they don't reset the level but instead build on what they already made. Instead of makeing an entire new combat System I would rather they increase what exist build on it with each game. They don't have to increase the weapons lv much if at all I think New weapons with a tri material slot, more ablities to learn or weapons that are more defense based in magic, or regular defense. Maybe weapons that start out with a damage type like fire but have a weaker attack. New weapon ablities to more deversify the weapons make one and mp vampire at the cost of lower damage or one a counter master, give some of the other characters speed builds or make it so chaining attacks without getting hit do increasing damage. New materia, like earth, stone, long range attack(please, please add long range attack, it was painful without it) , auto use, ko use, vitality up, spirit up, atk up, movement speed up, stager damage up, and extra atb bar or 2 either as a lv or as a materia, clean materia but as an ability not magic for 2 atb (same for haste barrier and raise) so on hard mode if I run out of mp or get silenced I can still enter act at the cost of a slot and a little more atb. more elemental attacks(let poison and earth work with it too) and magnify, atb for hire magic spells at the cost of slightly more mp, status on hit chance linked to (sleep, toad, beserk, dispel, slow, stop, stone, steal) damage for hp, let element weapon stack with element plus hp absorb since you use for slots to do so. Status up(boost duration for more mp) Plus they have the combat style for the new characters to add like Cid, yufi, cat-sith, Vincent, redx13 I'd also like to see more hidden linked combos for materia, ablities, and cross character attacks like team limit breaks would be really cool. Materia like Ex auto+haste +haste +magnify Status on hit+slow+slow+ magnify Elm attack+fire +fire +hp absorb Fire+fire =Fire plus slightly less mp Fire+element armor+hp to mp (Dual cast+haste+dual cast +barrier +barrier+magnify +barrier +auto) Their is so much more they can do or add to the current system

I say its situational, when in party its easyer to trigger infinity and switch char and command their attacks like true strike to amp stagger damage. When cloud alone or mob stagger drains fast then braver or something quicker.

Twin Stinger is underrated if you use Elemental materia. I don't know the battle damage formula but it seems to do more damage if you use Elemental materia than hard edge because it has the passive bonus it gives 10% increases to elemental materia and 5% increase in specific elemental magic damage.i was able to do the top secret pride and joy challenge faster with twin Stinger than hard edge using cloud as my primary damage dealer.

Chakra materia is so so , i started to use it but then i realized that its a wasted slot, you better use prayer , since you heal the whole party and for more hp , since chakra heal based on % and max is 40% you need to have 9999 and 1 hp , to heal 4k hp . with prayer (even though you use 2 bars atb) you can heal from 2k to 6-7 if using healing carcanet or whatever the item name was.

2 Bravers instead of Infinity's End does more damage IMO, Braver only uses 1 ATB and can do over 6k damage at a time making it more effective. Infinity's End on the other hand uses 2 ATB as you know and takes much longer to land the blow of a maximum of 9999, this makes it difficult to land and it's not as ATB cost effective not to mention more accurate and devistating an attack in the longrun.

I would use Braver over infinities edge mainly because with this build you can get two off at 6k plus damage per hit and get back into the combos faster. 12k plus damage seems a little better then 10k Dont get me wrong seeing the 9999 pop up on screen will always look amazing lol but.

Might be late, but all weapons get more slots as you level them up with SP. All weapons in the game eventually get six slots with three links at weapon level six. You will need to do some hard mode bosses and quests to get the tomes, though.

Hardedge is decent. Most love it. I like it as a level weapon, and then ditching it for bosses. I use the Fury Ring, Barrier, Regen, Luck Plus, ATB Stagger, ATB Boost, and MP Plus. Shortcut Disorder, Regen, Barrier, and Manaward. Hardedge is all about power and aggression. The faster and longer you can wail on something in Punisher Mode, the better. There's no one size fits all weapon/materia setup for Cloud though, unless you're using Gotterdammerung, which is cheesy. That's why I love the Mythril Saber. A basic setup with that is Platinum Earings, HP Plus, HP Plus, HP Absorb-Enemy Skill (Algid Aura), Elemental-Element, Magic Plus, Magic Plus, First Strike, and then mix up the last slot depending on what you're fighting against. That could be Steadfast Block, Healing, Chakra, Poison, etc. I've gone all the way through Hard Mode with this setup, and swapping that last Materia Slot. Close range? Algid Aura/HP Absorb, Steadfast Block, Counterstrike, Elemental Damage. Long range? Blade Burst, Regen, Elemental Spell. With two Magic Plus Materia and the Platinum Earings, your magic attack will be 462-464. What's really cool is the passive MP Regen, Trade Off, and 20% Bonus Damage with full MP. This gives you the ability to consistently do stupid damage with the lowest level Elemental Spells.

Is your weapon level 6? You might need to collect another manuscript (I was 4 SP away from lv. 6 after my first playthrough). You can get one for Cloud by beating Scorpion Sentinel on Hard mode. Once you max the weapon level, another cluster should open up with the missing materia nodes.

I think that Buster Sword is better, the highest dmg you can do is 9999 with that infinity end skill and u can still achieve that value with Buster Sword, plus equip some elemental materia and ramp up your numbers. Dunno know about the actual difference, gotta test it out.

Found any use for Clouds ability to cast Fury on himself by holding Square down at the end of a punisher combo?

I believe that is its use. Outside the fact that it is an attack boost not locked behind a skill and that the down slam has a shorter dead period after use than the normal combo finisher,

@@timothyjohnson8247 once you hit lvl 50 it unlocks. Then u have to do hard mode to get books that give you SP points

I dont use deadly dodge. Cuz i have the refocus materia cuz i use that ultimate accesory that gives you full limit at start of each battle

dion reid you get additional manuscripts after beating bosses in hard mode, which are required to unlock the final subcores for all weapons

I believe you need manuscripts (like The Art of Swordplay Vol. IV) to upgrade your weapon level. Certain manuscripts are only available in Hard Mode, that's where I unlocked my weapons to level 6 and found more sub-cores available.

No guys he’s right a bunch of the weapons don’t have all the cores, some only have 3-4 at lv6 skill

On weapon upgrades tab you can see how much sp you need to level the weapon. Getting to lv6 weapon requires manuscripts from hard mode bosses, 56 menuscripts available I believe.

More sub cores will unlock as you do hard mode run throughs and get manuscripts. They usually have more materia slots that come with them.

bit of a stupid question but how long did you have to grind to get materia maxed up? I've finished the game but yet to do any of the end game content yet. obviously I do want to replay and even finish hard mode. just wondering how long it's actually gonna take to get to that point?

the max time to max all materia is about 2-3 hours, practice at shinra similator chapter 16 or 17, 2 vs high flyers

Elemental materia plus a fire materia, you can do it with any of the 5 main elemental materia

Tbh the game has become ridiculously easy. Even the Bahumut Ifrit fight is easy with these builds, we need a REAL superboss.
