I cook frozen chicken breasts in the IP all the time. Sauté a chopped onion until softened and starting to get some color, add garlic and the frozen breasts, salt, pepper and I am generous with a spoon of italian seasoning. Close, set it to pressure cook for 20 minutes. Onions and frozen chicken will release enough water to cook everything, there's no need to add anything else. You can add some potatoes too, but then add half a cup of water. Full dinner in no time and no mess in the kitchen. Just make sure to add enough seasoning to make everything very flavorful. I always leave it to release pressure naturally, I never force it because I find it removes much of the flavor and leaves the chicken dry. With NR all the juices are preserved.

Thank you! I'll have to try that sometime. How much, or big, of an onion do you use? If you don't want too much onion, would you need to add a little bit of water to make up for not using the entire onion?
@DouceVipere4 жыл бұрын
@@SophieMia806 they’re usually medium sized and will melt completely in the end. They give a lot of flavor, so if you want to substitute it with water, you’ll have to season a lot more. Try to use half an onion and a small can of tomato pure then add 1/4 water. Add the tomato on top of the chicken and stir.

Omg thanks so much for this tip! I would never use the microwave to thaw my ground beef cus it would get rubbery or yuckie and I would have to get rid of some pieces of it. So I would always put it in water while still in the wrapping and in a hurry having to throw it on the stove top with a covered lid and constantly tend to it peeling layer by layer off the frozen hunk of meat lol. This its going to be a life save for me for sure!!! Thanks again 😁😁😁❤

I put in a pound of frozen beef and a pound of frozen Italian sausage on top of it and set the timer for 5 minutes like your video suggested. They came out perfectly: completely thawed but not cooked through. Between the pressurization (I have an 8-qt.), the 5-minute timer, and me getting up off my chair when the timer was over and releasing the pressure, it took 15 minutes.

This is a great tip! You need a Mix and Chop tool from Pampered Chef to break up your ground beef. I was skeptical until I bought one, but it works really well.
@SweetPeasSaffron5 жыл бұрын
I think I have seen those but honestly, we only eat ground beef 1-2 times a month so I don't really want to buy a tool just for those few times. I am trying to minimize the things in my drawers right now because I can barely shut the drawer!

I love my PC mix and chop tool! My sister-in-law just told me last night that she uses hers (not sure if hers is PC or not) to also shred/break up chicken breasts. I've seen other people comment in other videos that they use them also for hard boiled eggs and tuna, too. I never thought of using mine for more than ground meats.

If you mean after the seasonings are added, then I'm guessing just until it's hot, and/or until the ground meat is completely cooked through and no longer has any pink left. That's what I was thinking when I watched the video. 🙂

I notice you have both an Instant Pot AND a Crock Pot. Do we really need both? Or can just the Instant Pot serve as a Crock Pot? I'm so confused when I go to the store to look at them. Please help!
@SweetPeasSaffron5 жыл бұрын
Hi! It really depends on your situation. The slow cooker is a great 'set it and forget it' kind of appliance but if you work outside the home, then many of the recipes will be useless as they can't cook longer than 5 hours. There are very few recipes that will turn out well after cooking for more than 8 hours in the slow cooker. The Instant Pot is a great alternative because the recipes that take 5 hours in the slow cooker often take 8 minutes in the IP (plus time coming to pressure and releasing pressure). BUT you do have to often pay more attention to it in terms of being around to release pressure, sautee if needed, etc. So it can be a bit more hands on. I have not used the slow cooker function of my IP because I've heard it's way different and I love the slow cooker I own. I hope this helps! I love both my slow cooker and my IP!

When you dump the dirty water out of the pot. Where are you supposed to dump it? Out of a 5 storey window? Or through your kitchen sink drain? Cause that is what prevents me from cooking... I have nowhere to dump the crap out....

@SweetPeasSaffron5 жыл бұрын
No, the Instant Pot is a pressure cooker and a crockpot is a slow cooker. You can't cook frozen meat in a slow cooker unfortunately as you will be at risk for food poisoning.
@adntigger710153 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking the CrockPot brand DOES make pressure cookers. So you could be seeing that also, but just make sure it's a pressure cooker no matter what brand and you'll be ok.

Hello again, this is going to sound crazy I’m not recommending it but it worked for me. I put the ground beef on the trivet with the water cooked it on high for two minutes. I drained off the fat and put the ground beef in the food processor; gave it three pulses and then put it back in the instant pot and followed the rest of your directions. It came out great.
