For a barb start I like to roll a berserk barb, the howl synergy gives you a great tool to ignore density and target unique monsters

I started season 1 with a trapsin. Season 2 with the new Sunder charms, I went with a fire sorc. Season 3 I went with a bone spear/corpse explosion necro. Season 4 I went with a nova sorc. For the two seasons I didn't go with a sorc, I just used a teleport staff to get around. For sorcs, I always build a hybrid (combo of two elemental damage) until I get a Sunder charm. Then I respec to one element. Trapsins are easy mode. The bone spear/corpse explosion necromancer was pretty easy and almost no immunities to deal with. I just like to start with a different character each time so I don't get bored quickly.

My fire sorc broke me. I played through all of S2 farming up Phoenix, Infinity and all the high end gear, then the Enchant buff came through and people running Demon Machine were out-dpsing me almost 5 fold.

Fury druid dunks on everything. Fury gives crazy damage so any weapon hits hard, and lycan gives insane life.

@@securatyyyFury druid is fine for single target but a lot of lists mark it down because of a couple issues. Namely lack of mobility (cant tele transformed), lack of AOE, higher Gear reliance than a caster, and limited skill options once transformed. If you are willing to take the hit on speed its super tanky and can clear pretty much everything, but it is in no way a S tier build.

Come on Phil... You can do it on barb. I have done it multiple times, complete start with barbarian, if you think you need sorc, you really dont. You just have to get maximum what barbarian class offers. If you choose to challenge yourself on barb start to have different season once, I can give you some tips :) Just say so.

Dude, warcry is waaaaaaay superior for a starter. Dunno if you actually played your Singer completely from zero to hero. Skip one of the synergies and go for find potion/grim ward instead, so you are increasing your damage and you'll actually find stuff early on (and it's awesome for survivability with crap gear). Teli staff on switch and become the terror of the pits

Phil, how about using a frozen orb sorc? is it less damage? I've always played frozen orb, I've done nova but i feel like i get hit way more on a nova because you have to get closer to your target and less movement capabilities. Throw the orb move around or teleport to position yourself better.

Frenzy oath is your budget frenzy barb. Obedience is more what i aim for. Since the ww change, u might need 2x black or rares until u get obedience or oaths. Its tough but u also want to use a amp damage merc or a lawbringer merc. Gotta use those curses for damage early. Also the crafted critical strike helm. Can pick up a regular cryptic axe or w/e relatively quickly... i play hc, cranium basher etc, uppd uniques... its not too hard but its not a sorc. Its something different. I do tele amulets or staff and stick to static maps like nilthak, trav. Gotta have no frozen and treachery for that ias. Yeah takes a lil patience

Phil I'll be completely honest this is a bit unfair. There's much better options for each of your slots farmable off nm mephisto. You can't push barbs naked into hell. A 2 hour stop at nm mephisto would double your kill speed.

I found a happy medium during Season 3: Trapsin. Sorc is a safe bet and fast for sure, but unless your going HydraOrb good luck getting through the game solo. Paladin is probably the easiest clear, but I cant stand hammers. Sin is the sweet spot for me. Its not Sorc, but with BOS and traps it moves almost as fast, and with Death sentry and Fire blast it has enough tools in the kit to get through immunity issues. In the same vein as the Nova Sorc, so long as you can kill NM Baal you have access to both countess and NM cows for the Um rune and a big boost to damage via Crescent Moon. Then ultimately you can farm up your Mosaic, or just swap to your barbarian once you trade up to a Lo. Second place is probably going to be Necromancer for me. Bone is a pretty safe clear through the game, then summoner interacts really well with TZs. its a lot slower than the 3 above, but the utility of being able to literally do anything right out of the gate isn't to be underestimated.

2 ladders ago I did a WW barb, took me 3 days to make Grief and start farming cows. Had a blast. I don't know a single barb who'd have 2-3 points in find items. Horking is life on barb. On the other hand I've never played sorc, was thinking about sorc as a starter this ladder but in the end switched to summon necro. I just don't enjoy the sorc, so I guess to each their own :)

i know a critter you can farm very easy for unis all the time. i hit that first uni in frigid highlands all the time and today with a light sorc with a higher mf i got 3 unis to drop including a ethereal edged silver edged axe that was near perf

My plan is Holy Fire Paladin for Normal and Holy Shock for Nightmare..it's about 4 hours in the worst case..maybe you'll get something useful out of these runs for the next char what is : Fire Sorc for Normal and maybe somewhere in Nightmare could go into Cold or Light...it can be done quick :) and I could start farming for better gear..

Relatively new Diablo 2-player here. I watch so many videos and trying to learn so much but it's overwhelming. You said that when the ladder is over, you lose all your gear?

It's semi hard to explain through text but there's many videos about it. But the only way you can lose any gear is the items you left on your shared stash tabs for the precious season. Everything and every character is transferred to non ladder when season resets. The shared stash tabs overrides the previous season withdraw only transferred over shared stash tabs. So anything left the will be deleted. Like i said hard to explain. But if you see it, it makes sense. If this current season was your first than there's no possibility of shutting getting overridden.

You do not loose your gear nor your char. The char just becomes nonladder after the ladder ends. Then you cannot build anymore runewords that are ladder only. But you will keep those that you already built in the ladder season, like spirit monarach and the likes.

Do barb start but with the stipulations that you cannot use any rune words or ever get movespeed and the only damage skill you can use is whirlwind, sounds so fun!

It's always very hard for me not to choose sorc for ladder start. Last season I started with a javazon, and it was fun, but not nearly as efficient as a sorc. I ended up stuck in hell and starting a sorc to find better gear for the amazon, it was a mess and I ended up losing so much time.

The best start for Barberian is on warcryers till late Nightmare. After that change to Berserk. But most of the time, you are just a walking call to arms to the party And i think thats the fastest start.

Im also gonna start with the Nova Sorcerer for the fast farming. 2nd im doing a fire claw druid. And no I dont always start ladder with the sorcerer. Ive started with Hammerdin: A+ Bone spear Necro: B Wind Druid: B Cold Arrow Bowazon: C

Fire claw druid got problems in hell though. You are basically helpless against anything that is immune to fire. You can still use volcano for physical damage, but for the melee attack the only leech you get comes from the physical weapon damage. So the huge amount of fire damage doesn't heal you. Which is why I wonder how to survive in hell with fire claw.

If you use a strong weapon like Reapers, obedience or insight then you can throw some points into maul. Maul is a very good physical damage ability with no other synergies needed.

trapsin is next for me ive only played sorc my whole life till last season went fishymancer and had a blast. going trap sin because i think mosaic looks anoying and to op. Im going to try and do a new char every season because i think its ganna be fun and i just dont know what other chars like to use. I'm personally quite busy this season, so he's my lazy pick: FoH. I tested FoH in singleplayer with the Day1 gear budget (Stealth/Lore/2x Spirit) lvl70, and it was decent. Personally, I feel more comfortable with Hammerdin, who knows how many years doing the same thing it's hard not to get used to playing on autopilot mode, but i will try FoH this time, and ofc when the currency hits, i will prob swap to Hammerdin

Single player and BNET barbs are not comparable. In bnet barb is super great as you can go lvling and campaign very quickly. Barb buffs always appreciated. As soon as you get 80+ even crappy gear is alright with Pits to get all the items/runes for Travincal.

Barbs best ability is actually find item and being the slowest in your group, you’ll be hoarking up so many Gg items from enemies you really don’t have to worry about killing

If you want to start with a barb, you need to start a Berserker using a two-handed weapon. Lot's of high damage weapon options, huge damage from skills, use howl to clear mobs then war cry to stun enemies so you don't get hit. Add some cheap integer DR items like Gladiator's Bane and you can switch to Battle Cry, and because of the way damage is calculated you take almost no damage. All that said, AOE caster is almost always better. Right now I am wavering between javazon and lite nova, frozen orb sorc. My favorite build was the shockwave bear, but Blizzard fixed that class. I am counting down the hours now. Ladder drops at 6 AM here so I have been getting up at 5 so I'm ready to go as soon as ladder starts.

WW is not what you ant until you have the gear for it. Double swing with a little bit of frenzy to boost your speed. You will have plenty of points to stick into speed, defense and resistance.

I've league started barb every season, but with a small group. Always run warcry with dual spirits + stealth. I just stayed with the group until 93. Then venture off and get gear on my own. This is enough to farm with better than you are doing in the vid with WW. Is it better to start with Sorc? Yep. Do you get lucky with some horking, yep. I like the pain though 😂. This season I will start Nova sorc, cuz fk blizzard.

Summon necro is soo fun with zero gear. You keep all the tiny mf charms others leave on the floor and make a HUSTLE rune word and a few extra faster runwalk charms and get slayin. Tp staff for emergency but usually faster walk is good enough for leveling halfway thru hell. (then do a sorc cuz you crave gear)

How are you doing Diablo though without gear? Would work if you invested heavily into revive and then got those cb guys as revives (either moon lords or those big club people from Durance of Hell or River of Flame, forgot their name). But with pure skellies one fire nova from Diablo and all of my army is gone.

i hate that i play normal, nightmare and then hell and even in hell drops alway stuff like Iseanheart Crap or like this or million times of an Amn or El Rune. In my opinion if i played al the way to hell act 5 there only have to drop elite or when then exeptional items. if i want an beginner item i can crreate an normal game to get it. But in hell only exeptinal or elite item have to drop. Lem, pul or higher rune! Hope someone think like me and Blizzarrd will fix this problem. They can make the drops rare but if then plz a um rune or higher and not a million times eld rune. Thx for reading...

The game was designed that way from the start, it's supposed to be a big event when you actually get something good. Botting and duping got people into the mindset that enigma and infinity and stuff are required for a character to actually be playable... plus the questionable decision to give one class perfect mobility and other classes mid or no mobility.

@@adius256 Sorc may have teleport, but she is basically a glass cannon. Every other char has some way of stunning opponents or getting them to stop from attacking (barb = war cry, pala = smite, druid = shockwave, assa = mind blast, necro = dim vision, ama = evade (maybe something else, I never play ama)). If there are cold immunes sorc is pretty much done for when in need of a quiet moment because opponents get too many.

That’s the only sad thing about d2. Sorcs are the only starter for ladder cause you can rush for forge, farm keys, do mf. With dual builds you Solo hell and teleport speeds up group Baal runs

WW Barbs are criminally underpowered, it's actually baffling as to why they haven't addressed this. All it would take it so play the game with a Sorc, Pally, and then try a WW Barb and you realise it's far and above one of the worst damage dealing builds in the game.

Depends what you wanna farm I suppose. I just did a SSF playthrough on a War Cry barb, meaning I don't take ANYTHING from other characters, and it was by FAR the most free playthrough I have ever done. (all of normal and nightmare was done on p8) The second you hit level 30 you just don't die and your damage is unbelieveable until act 2 hell, at which point it'll slow down. - though even that I could chalk up to me still using 2x 20% faster wands and not dual spirits for +4 skills and having no charms.

It's going to be an amazing 2 weeks until all the JSP users start getting cheaper forum gear and the bots kick in. Then everyone will be easily farming stuff solo and the economy will be littered.

you force yourself into those roles me and others have never stared with sorc nor pally i typically start with necro, sometimes druid, sometimes amazon, sometimes barb
