One of my favorite reasons for why people imitate animal products is that it's cultural. When I get with friends and family, I still have the nostalgic desire to have pulled pork or brats on 4th of July. And there are great substitutes so I can keep up these sorta cultural traditions but without meat

I think the other reason we imitate meat dishes is just to show that you can create alternatives that are just as good if not better. I know it brings me a lot of pleasure to create dishes like this that my meat eating friends go "wow I never thought it possible"

@@janeiljackson4032 right. Claiming moral superiority because that cultural tradition is associated with eating meat is just a form of bitterness and not really virtuous. I’m 51 now, but got a stent at 44. That’s why I went plant based. Now I love it. I was experimenting with diets and weight loss and was heading in the plant based direction. I’m the unlucky one on my moms side, but we naturally have higher cholesterol. I’ll still have a little meat maybe 1 day a week, but I agree with the exploitation and ethical reasons for eliminating all products. I’m generally 80%-85% conservative with ingredients, but I have a lot to learn.

Thank you, so much! I’m attempting a semi-vegan diet, after 78-plus years on this planet. Another, similar “chicken” tofu recipe was ahead of yours in the KZbin channels. Since I am a KFC fan, for the smell and taste, I thought a home-made vegan version with gluten-free flour and less salt might be something to make. I was just at the local organic store. Will have to go back for the “corn flakes”. Not a fan of corn, so I will have to find something similar, but more digestible by my body. NICE, that you can make these recipes as a team. Blessings!

A much easier method to coat the tofu is to tip it all into the container with the milk, then using a large slotted spoon take it out and place it in the flour-spice mix in a tupperware container. Scatter some of the flour over the tofu and then put the lid on the Tupperware and then give it a good shake so that all the tofu is well coated. So much faster than doing each piece individually.

I've only watched the first minute and a half of your video so far and I have to comment how happy I am that you took the time to make clear the simple yet powerful idea that, "if we can enjoy tasty food without harming (or better yet *using*) animals, why wouldn't we!" It's an extremely important message to include in *all* vegan advocacy, that many advocates sadly avoid, especially vegan food bloggers. And I'm also glad you say *vegan*. I hate the term "plant-based" because it definitely doesn't clearly mean vegan.

The science behind is the water as it freezes literally stabs in between the layers and causes that flaking. Then you do it the second time and it causes a whole new layer of flaking it's just adding the texture by the ice crystals creeping. I tried to make it sound as gross as possible for those who still really think they need to eat an animal LOL I'm just kidding. I've got just a couple more days and I will have 56 years of vegan so I'm the grandma with a sense of humor. I just wish I had somebody to do this kind of work for me now. Thanks for putting out good recipes for people. And for the people who are worried about oil this isn't enough to affect your life greatly if it's done at the right temperature it will not absorb into the middle learn to get the right kind of oils and learn to use the right temperatures and the oil seals on the outside if it's done proper and you can always spray them and do them in air fryers though it's not near as good! PS poultry seasoning which has a few spices in it already. They all very from brand to brand. Then salt pepper .Any amount of ground red pepper that you would want if you want spiciness garlic onion powder. And places like KFC use a huge amount of monosodium glutamate or MSG. And they consider that one of the spices. So sorry celery powder if you can find it but it's usually celery salt so omit some of the salt or all of the salt. You can always take a small drop of batter and put it in the oil to try the saltiness. And go from there realizing that you have a totally different flavor in the middle that might not be salty enough. The Italian seasoning is going to give a very different taste than what most people are used to poultry seasoning would be what you recognize even though they share some of the same spices the sage is going to be the big kicker. I hope people see this and it helps
