He's not only an interpreter. He invented a new type of guitar pick, so you can pick and change to tapping and/or fingerstyle and back again... something I've been trying to do for ages. I've ordered one and hoping I can get used to using it!

I like the interviewer, good questions, no stupidity and seems to be very knowledgeable. ...and Chris is a wonder kid, can't understand how he had time to learn all the stuff he knows and be so excellent in whatever style he fiddles with...I am very envious to say the least! =)

If I were a metalhead, this guy would be my role model. Since I do play almost exclusively with my fingers, it's not hard to admire a player like Chris. I was surprised to learn that his guitars are by Jackson. I saw the headstocks, and I immediately assumed they were built by Brian Moore. That goes to show what you get for making assumptions.

I agree, it'd be cool to see him doing a solo album where he really tries out a variety of things. This would force him to show some creativity, but it'd also be great to just hear all his talents on one album.

Even though it is clear that Broderick is a professor and technician at the very best that anybody is nowadays in this scene, admitting that Friedman is weaker in that domain is also unjust. Let's not forget that Friedman's the person who introduced Japanese mods and scales to metal. I wonder if and when Broderick would make his invention on thumb picks available to the public..

@eddieward666 I bought the Jackson Chris Broderick 7-string signature from a guitar store online since I couldn't find one locally and I have no regrets. The guitar plays well and sounds great both distorted and clean. If you get a chance to play one before buying to make sure its for you thats obviously ideal, however, I can vouch for the fact that its an amazing guitar. It looks beautiful and plays well.

I agree, probably my favorite metal guitarist. I think the Marty and Chris debate is pointless its all a matter of opinion I dont see it possible to compare at the level these guys are at. I think Chris is one of the most diverse players out there but Marty has some of the most memorable solos of all time. Its like apples to oranges. Just enjoy the music!!!!

I second that. I really want Broderick to release his own record - listening to him, I see that he has a huge palette of techniques and can literally, play anything thrown at him. I want to see him try and separate himself from the whole Nevermore / Megadeth music imagery he is so associated with. The world needs a new guitar hero, maybe.

Chris is a great player and too be honest he's the only modern player I've seen and actually enjoy but his tone has too much gain personally I think he needs some delay just too give it a more moist tone if you will instead of his dry sounding tone like more bubbly you know what I mean like Dave Murray's lead tone...but that's just me I love him though nice guy
