The poly AT on the Hydrasynth is the best I have ever experienced. It feels natural instantly, and makes the synth a highly expressive instrument, instead of just a synth. With the Poly AT, the ribbon controller, and the amazing sounds and effects, the Hydrasynth is my all-time favorite synth out of 30+ years of synth ownership!

Thank you Daniel for sharing your expertise. I am new to synths and bought the Hydrasynth keyboard version over the desktop mainly for the aftertouch and ribbon. I could have read the manual, which I tried, and experiment with the settings, but, I learned more in this video than I knew existed. The Hydrasynth is a challenge for a total beginner like me that is also learning to play a keyboard and learn music theory as well. The Hydrasynth is a fun challenge and if your a beginner do not fear the mod matrix for it’s complexity, just embrace the sound possibilities. Just a word of warning, if you have to be somewhere else make sure you set an alarm clock or timer. The hours will seem like minutes. Thanks to the KZbin algorithm I discovered there are more videos clips with the Hydrasynth settings explained in detail so thank you again and in advance.

I remember seeing a video of someone using poly aftertouch on an SQ-80 to get a sort of lap steel guitar effect. Kind of like how the Linnstrument enables one to do. I wish I could remember how they were able to do it, because it sounded awesome.

I have the Explorer. It seems like the presets with after touch go from the no aftertouch sound to the aftertouch sound really suddenly and abruptly without any smooth transition. It also engages the aftertouch if I press only a tiny bit harder. So I'm often using it when I don't want to. I realize these are the tiniest keys, but is there something I can adjust so it's not so oversensitive, and so it's a smoother transition?

What is the difference between poly AT and mpe? When should I turn on mpe if using the hydrasynth standalone?
