Stage volume! Other musicians don't appreciate cymbals ringing in their ears! Also they are much easier to mix front of house.

I purchased an Alesis Strike Pro SE from Sweetwater in November. Based on the sound library and the drum build alone, to me, it's the closest thing to the feel of an acoustic set.

Sounds great ! But for buzz rolls , I think a real snare still has the throne . Something about the interrupted decay when the next snare hit happens . Would splitting the snare into a left and right zone help ? Maybe allow each hit to ring independently while the trigger repeatedly re-arms itself ?
@wirenutz78692 жыл бұрын
I know I am nitpicking . It does sound incredible .
@mb71962 жыл бұрын
It's a drum module issue. Companies just don't seem to be willing to sample their kits to the highest level and increase the internal storage of the kits to make it work. If you trigger software like Superior Drummer or BFD3, rolls sound just like playing on a real kit.

I play an ancient DTX532K set with the RHH135 hi-hat, which I assume is the same as the one in this kit. The one I have only HAS three positions: open, half-open, closed (bow and rim), which I'm tired of. Is the hi-hat in this configuration also this limited? Or did things change when the modules became more advanced? If anyway knows, I'm curious to find out. Thanks!

This kit looks and sounds phenomenal!!!!!! I want one soooooooo bad. Unfortunately I can’t afford it currently unless a major miracle happens upon me. I’m thinking about selling my Alesis strike module to get the DTX Pro module for my “new” to me dtx560 kit I recently picked up for 500$.

My Yamaha module was the dtx500 unfortunately. I did sell my strike module and bought used dtx pro and I absolutely love it!!! I only thing I really missed about strike module was the direct outputs and some of strike sounds/features. The new Strata prime module looks and sounds phenomenal. I wish I had saved up and bought dtx pro X for the direct outputs. Very helpful for recording and live sound setup.

Great demos, though I've yet to come away impressed by the sounds of one of these kits. Odd that Yamaha focuses so much on FX and weird instruments and leaves out basic features like mic placement and blend for kick and snare. Some of the cymbals sounds are great but there still seems to be a big gap between drum brains and software kits on depth of control and sample quality.

Wondering how this thing works in stereo with headphones, or actually, connected to a proper stereo system or amplifiers. I wonder how, or if, the rooms pan... Or like if the cymbals on the right come through the right, and vice versa etc.. I'm listening through a huge hi fi system now, and it's kinda hard to tell.

Generally you can set the perspective to "drummer" or "audience". Not sure about this module but I'm almost positive all those options are fully configurable. There's not much you can't do with ekits these days.

I don't know why when demoing a kit people play the electronic sounding kits. no one buys an electronic drum set because it has sounds that sound like an arcade game. people want a kit with sounds that sound like a real top of the line acoustic drum set, right out of the box. without having to buy Superior drummer to get it. and in this demo there wasn't any kit that got me exited. but I'm sure if you took some time you could dial in some nice sounds. but any time you are taking to get a kit to sound good, is time away from actually playing the kit. or creating. how do you think this kit compares to the top of the line Roland sets ? with the digital snare, hi hat and ride. and 50 X module. like the TD50KV which is similarly priced to this Yamaha kit.
@nickbeaty1234 Жыл бұрын
Respectfully disagree. I love being able to use the electric sounds. Especially if you’re into playing rnb and hip hop.

Yeah it´s expensive... But it has amazing hardware and, unlike Roland, sounds good enough to ditch ez or superior drummer for live use.

@groovemaster1978 Жыл бұрын
@Jaegervand; I disagree with the last statement, I have one and are now using it with ezdrummer3; this way it sounds much more natural... no more machinegunning.. and I use an audiointerface with 8 outputs so still able to use it live.

I don't agree that "it all comes down to how it sounds". Been playing Yamaha DTX900 for over a decade and love the TCS, but module sounds have always been irrelevant to me since e-drummer's (myself included) trigger drum libraries such as SD3, BFD3, AD, SSD, GGD, NI etc for recording. It all comes down to how it "feels" and how it triggers however.

both the DTX-Pro (I have one) and the ProX (in this review) machine-gun, which is probably the most unnatural part. Maybe Yamaha just doesn't want to pay for the gigabytes (?) of sample memory needed to have like 4+ variations of every hit plus ambience like you get in stuff like SD3. I'm not a good enough player yet o really notice the machinegun problem when I actually play so it's fine for me
