Ludwig totally stressed out holding IronMouse up on the iPad to accept her award is my new favourite image. And yes, the Vtuber setup was hysterical. Very proud of her for the win, and so happy she could "attend" the event digitally. For those who don't know, IronMouse is essentially bedridden due to severe health issues and vtubing is her only option for streaming/having a creative outlet. And she totally ROCKS it.

QT planning such a separation between the fans and the streamers fully makes sense. She herself along with plenty of other women streamers have dealt with a Lot of weird and stalker and parasocial type stuff from fans. So really forcing that separation, not giving anyone the opportunity to do something weird, is honestly a smart move on her part.

If anyone is interested, QT talks about everything behind the scenes of the awards on the "Fear &" podcast. Everything was supposed to be projected and you were supposed to see streamers reactions but it didnt work as soon as they went live, alot of the streamers were on their phones cause they were watching the award show from chats pov, etc. She literally did all of this by herself and hosted the show on top of that . QT did not run the whole show by herself. Yes, she started it and is the creator behind it, but she had a ton of help to run the thing. There were at least 5 people alone in the video staging booth running all the cameras and the visuals for the live stream. To completely disregard the large team working on this event and working just as hard as she did is just rude.
@alexerson2226 Жыл бұрын
QT's stream after the awards where she did a Q&A really put a whole different light on it. Like she had a "fake" streamer entrance setup in order to ward off weird viewers, she was begging production to put a BRB screen during the technical issues (animation, videos and music performances not showing/working irl) and they just ignored her, didn't have the cameras setup like she wanted, no reaction cameras even though she paid for them etc etc. But it is incredible what she manages to put together, and I hope she continues to be able to get enough sponsors because this was, as she said, nearly a million dollars (She was up to 900k when she counted a week or so before) Also allowing for a once a year event for streamers to hangout, especially a community that has the ability to carry so much drama and bad blood when you can see what you're able to do with good relationships (ie: Spanish community, with Ibai and others)

ps. re ironmouse: ppl become vtubers for all sorts of reasons and sometimes juggle that with in person streaming etc. ironmouse is absolutely seen as a trailblazer and an icon in the vtuber world, for all sorts of reasons but she's a standout case cause she built this legacy mostly from her bed due to a severe immune disorder so she always revels in the opportunity to do streams that have a similar sort of energy to the ipad situation at the awards show, like she's done a lot of 'irl' streams where her friends show her around fun places virtually on stream, and things like VR parties with her friends and such, getting to see her thrive and always seem to be doing the most as a streamer is inspiring tbh. She's also always somehow in everybody's streams all the time, her networking skills and ability to chill with just about anybody are kind of insane tbh, (she's even got a talk show stream series that she does every week or so where she invites friends and guests that's brilliant, even if you're not familiar with the people being interviewed.) It may please you to know that for stuff like convention appearances lots of vtuber meet and greets where they can't make it in person involve people walking around with iPads or getting a camera view of the convention floor so they can interact with or experience the con as a bonus, and sometimes staff will organise these big screens for people to take meet and greet pics and talk to streamers. It's all kinda unique and inherently silly but that's part of the fun tbh. Since it's such a specific niche in terms of logistics there's a lot more whimsy where that came from

I didn't even know they sold tickets to this, but I guess it makes sense bc of how expensive the event probably was. I just wanted to put it out there that streamers get constantly harassed so although we would like to assume that those people in chat woundnt pay like $250 and go to an event to heckle or creep on their favorite streamer, there have been instances where individuals have done more and spent more to stalk and endanger streamers so the separation + petting zoo vibe was probably the best to keep everyones peace of mind because its practically impossible to screen everyone there

From what i understand QT is seriously thinking about having a viewing area at the red carpet next year for those who buy tickets. I mean I know that by the numbers streaming is HUGE, but in the greater scale of things this event applies to a very niche audience. It’s especially cool that it (to me, I have done zero research) seems to be more of a “by streamers, for streamers” sort of event. And the fact that, despite the weirdness of the curtains and complete separation, they seem to have some basic event planning situated in ways that other events don’t.
