At the Jersey Shore, we don’t have snow a boy do we have cold! It was 5°F in my yard yesterday at 6 AM. This is the time of year we’re going to Florida it’s just so incredibly wonderful. To go from the colder the snow down to a beach with warm water and shells everywhere. I have not been to the West Coast of Florida in over 25 years. I still miss it so much. Now that my son is grown I think I’ll go spend a week down there looking for shells. Thank you for making these videos they make my day Kathy

Which exit? We used to go to Island Beach State Park and boy I never found anything good on the beaches. Down here is a totally different story. If you come in the summer, the gulf water is WARM! It blew my mind. I hope you do decide to come because it's really just an absolutely wonderful experience.

I went to Florida on the West Coast about 30 years ago to Sanibel Island best week of my life. There are sharks teeth on the beach between Belmar in Avon on the Belmar side the big giant surf clams I use those shells to line my flowerbeds. They’re not sure we are anything but they’re good for calcium. Someday I’m going to return down to the West Coast of Florida. Oh I was exit 98 Belmar Avon Asbury Park. As Berry Park speech is now are spectacular there is not a piece of trash anywhere you’re not allowed to smoke on them they have cleaned it up so much. And there’s a whole bunch of crafters not crafters artisans there’s a glass blower there was a potter I don’t know if it’s still there. The housing is a fortune. When I worked there 20 to 23 years ago you could buy one of those giant Victorians for $100,000 with zero interest now they’re going for two 3 million each. Take care of yourself

love your videos! just spent 4 months in a little fishing village on the Azuero peninsular of Panama and became addicted to collecting shells. I was surprised to see that limpets are rare in Florida. My favorite beach in Panama would yield dozens and dozens of limpets every time. Each one a different color. Purples, shades of green, beige etc. now living in Orlando and planning to follow in your footsteps soon. Thank you for your videos.

WOW! It sounds like I need to go visit Panama 🤗 It is really incredible where these species decide to live. I always thought I would move to the Orlando area, but once we visited The Keys, we knew we had to be by the water. Thank you for coming along with me on my beach walk!

No lightening in the sky but plenty of lightening whelks on the beach! Thanks for another great video. I hope you and your family are safe. We heard about the tornadoes in your area. Hope you are doing well.

Love the lightning/whelk! Woke up to a tornado alarm and then sat and listed for a half hour to make sure we weren't going to get hit. Scary stuff! We're fine and I went to the beach today to see what goodies were left. Can't wait to share in a few weeks!

We also had a negative tide. Found 2 big lightning Whelk. About 8" each. So exciting! As usual, love your video. Pure awesomeness!

Thanks for the video. My beach walk on Sunday was 22 degrees. I think it’s time to move south!

Dang! I am whining if it drops below 70! It was in the 50's this morning but I didn't care. The shells were calling!

What a great walk. I was tense when you said the wind was picking up “ but I’ll tell you more about that later” . You didn’t say anything so at least I know you are safe. Thanks for all your information and the joy of discovery.

I'll tell you all about the wind next Sunday. I grossly underestimated how hard it can be to kayak in high winds!

I'm SOOO jealous of how many Lightning whelks you have down there. I live off the coast of NC and I find them occasionally, but nowhere near as often as you seem to find them! They're my favorite shells :)

Oh you'd go crazy down here. They're everywhere! I hope you get to maybe come and collect some for yourself one day! 🐚

Just love watching you on your shell trips! I’m a shellaholic too!

Thought I posted a comment earlier but it mysteriously disappeared. The mystery little shell is indeed a Mauve-mouth drill. Nice purple coloring on the aperture too! I loved all those spiny jewelboxes and all those top snails! Those whelks larger than 5 inches really are quite tough to find, so congrats on that find too! You had a great beach day!

I have found a few monster whelks....all alive! Which is good since I really haven't seen too many of them lately. I'll find an empty one if I have to shell every week 😅

Liked your video, thanks for sharing. I'm here in the snowy winter. Snow and winter is pretty...until the snow melts away leaving all of it to turn into to mud. Yuck. Then that leaves me with the winter flu yuck. 🤧 🤧 the older I'm getting, the more I don't like the snowy winter anymore. Wishing I was there in Florida with you.

I love your videos, I swear I can feel that sand on my toes lol. We have those moon snails here on our beaches in the northwest pacific, I have found some huge ones, bigger than my palm and a beautiful creamy pink with turquoise.
@SWFBeachLife3 жыл бұрын
There are different species of moon snails but the ones down here don't get all that big. The northern moon snails can get huge! Actually a lot of the colder-water shells can get quite big. They're all so interesting! Thanks so much for watching! 🙏🏼

I would like to ask you question and I am curious as to why you leave so Maney beautiful shells behind? I know you live close and can go back to the beach whenever you want to. But I sit here and drool while watching your videos. Lol I live in north central Florida in the Santa Fe river area..a couple of hours drive to the nearest beach.. I only get to go to the beach ever few years. But now getting too old to walk the beach. So I get my enjoyment out of watching the videos you put out for us!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!

I actually worry that I take too many shells sometimes! I do think I collect differently because 1) I live close to the beach and I'm committed to going every week and 2) I need to figure out what to do with the shells once I get home. I do not want to keep them all, so I sell them on Etsy and hope to make things with them. I think if I didn't get to go as often, I would probably collect more. I see some of the shells I first collected in a gumball machine, and my tastes have definitely changed!
