Happy to see this update from you! Here in Georgia, where I am, it was really just a huge amount of rain. We lost power for a few hours, but no damage. Our prayers are with all of you guys in Florida and South Georgia!

@SWFBeachLife I know! It was pure luck for us because we were right in the path of the eye and then it went a different direction and we were safe. I have seen some of the devastation and it is truly heartbreaking 💔 😢

Dear Sharmon, Thank you so much for the update! I was so worried! I kept watching all the weather charts to see where the hurricane would hit. I'm so relieved that you are OK! ❤ My heart goes out to all the people who are affected by this hurricane. People who are still recovering from Ian and now had hurricane Helene to deal with. What a horrible situation to be in. 😢 My thoughts and prayers are for all the people who suffered a tragic loss or got affected in some way due to this hurricane. May the Lord give them comfort and help in any way possible. 🙏🏻❤️

Very helpful... Hope you are able to update us again after Milton moves through. Our most recent visit was in May prior to Ian, and we were crushed to see what the storm had done, especially to the Pink Shell (our favorite). God bless everyone. Fort Myers Beach did its job as a barrier island…. Protected the mainland. Those who live here understand that. We love it here and prefer it to blizzards, glare ice roads and winters filled with gray skies. To each his own.

I just hope the government bails out the beachside home dwellers. They deserve zero interest guaranteed loans and FEMA money and handouts so they can rebuild their million dollar beachside homes 🙏 they deserve those warm sandy beaches and gorgeous sunsets 😉

So glad there wasn’t too much storm surge damage on FMB. I saw some video from much further north of Cedar Key, an island I used to regularly visit in the 70’s, and the damage looked pretty sad. The shelling should be fabulous though!

I know it wasn't all that bad here as I was planning on shelling. I remember with Ian I didn't want to go shelling. I was so devastated by the storm but life goes on and the shells aren't going to pick themselves up! My hurricane shelling trip has been secured!

I'm in southwest Ohio and we're getting Helene's remnants now. Very windy and lots of rain, which we need badly. Giving me flashbacks to Ike in 2008. Lost power for 4 days when he blew through, and I was one of the lucky ones with only 4 days. It was crazy. Who knew Ohio got hurricanes? LOL I've got my fingers crossed this time. Helene's winds don't seem to be quite as strong as Ike's were, so far. Glad you guys are safe!

@@Kammy44 We sure did. I'm west of Columbus. Heavy winds, I saw a tree down on my way to work this morning that I think caused the outage. Got about 2 inches of rain and still gloomy today. Very glad it wasn't as bad as Ike.

Hey there! Glad you guys are good! My husband and I were in a hotel right near Bunch beach - we lost power and water was all the way to the intersection so we checked out. Still in the general area, but sadly probably won’t be able to go shelling at Sanibel or Fort Myers Beach the way I wanted to.

Sanibel was encouraging people who didn't need to be on the island to stay away so I'm going to wait to go over there. I probably would have not gone to Fort Myers Beach either buy my husband had some business there. It's a hard call when I want to enjoy myself but I also don't want to be in anyone's way.
