Vicki - I'm so happy you were at the nest this morning during the fledge as I so wanted to see E10's landing on the snag. I could tell s/he was headed to the Cam tree first so it was wonderful to see, when that landing failed, E10 flew out and up higher to reach the pond snag. I’m so glad we got to see your video! We got to the nest tree an hour after E10 fledged so we missed it but we did get to see him make his perfect landing back in the nest! So proud of him! Knew yesterday the day for fledging was going to happen soon. So happy you were there to witness it. When E10 landed under the nest I could hear the anxiousness in your voice. I remember the day E9 did his accidental fledge. Thank goodness E10 was a successful fledge. He was probably thinking to himself. Okay E10 how did you end up here. What are you going to do now. JKA Auto, it actually was accidental as E10 was not fledge but was just flying back down to the nest... and missed. Fledge from the lower branch was strong!

I remember skating around the boards when we were learning to skate ( awfully young -- 5..?) And then the day came when we let go and skated across the rink. That must be what it feels like to fledge. Good job E10, and in quite a wind as well, came into the nest sideways just like I've seen little 2-seater planes do.

Sad to have to say goodbye when the time comes. Do sibling esgles ever stay together. Is there a way to tell if they are both male or female. Wish they wouldn't leave the nest so young. O Carreiro, siblings usually leave the nest area at different times, but you never know with these two. The only positive way to tell if male or female is with a blood test and beak measurements.
