SWFL Eagles_ The E's Morning With Dad/M15 ~One Visitor/Intruder Leaves & Another Arrives 02.15.23

The overnight visitor/intruder flew out early after M15 "pushed" her off the branch. M15 spent time watching the territory and the E's while the E's kept busy foraging for leftover food tidbits and moving nest meaterial. They also stood tall and tracked Dad and other birds around them. Another or a second visitor/intruder attempted to land in the nest tree but M15 flushed it from landing. I believe these visitors/intruders are there around the nest to steal food not to help M15 care for the eagles. M is doing an amazing job feeding and protecting the E's who are 6 weeks old this week.(E21 is 42 days old & E22 is 40 days old today.) "We love you Mom" and miss her terribly. Harriet was last seen February 2nd.

Yes, we still have so much hope and praying for her return. I too believe she is recuperating and will return home. She has a fighting spirit like no other. We have always known what an incredible provider (E15 comes to mind 😆) and protector he is. Now he has proven it to the world what we already knew. Loved hearing “go go go”! E22’s wings are so gorgeous! Thank you! E21 & E22 are doing well because of their dedicated Dad.

There have been three rogue eagles that have visited the nest tree since Harriet left. Close ups by the cam ops helped identify distinguishing marks. The 3rd eagle to visit is the only one that has remained and has been named by the cam owners (Pritchett family) as R23-3 (Rogue Eagle 2023, 3rd to visit.

That lady eagle went inside the nest to eat the fish and 22 tried to protect the nest & food , she put her foot on his back to stop him from stopping her. So now I think it frightened the E’s so now they r bonding and cuddling. Poor babies. M came they were standing on top of the littles. I was afraid they were going to be hurt. M got her out of their. ​@@elizagzlz9636 Hi Eliza! I doubt that she was going to feed them. She was hungry and gave the E's a warning to stay away. I also don't believe she intended to harm them, but, she has an injured talon and one of the E's could have bitten or poked her injury. No telling what that could have caused her to do. As we saw, the battle between her and M15 took place above the E's and they got accidently stepped on. Thank God, their wings were open and it probably gave them a slight lift that reduced the weight that hit the E's. But, they're fine, at this point. PTL! ❤️ Unfortunately, their world is pretty much out of human control. All we can do is watch, love them, and, pray for their safety! Be blessed! 🙏🦅😻

Vicki...If that is a female she is the one who first came to the nest and she went down to the nest whilw M was feeding them and tried to steal 21 I think because she was hungry, Eagle Goddess just put out a video showing her in the nest tree while M was gone and she went down to eat what was on the nest and 22 was begging and she went after him a beak and then her foot and 21 came over and she went after him because she wanted to eat...then M came back with a fish and a violent battle began....Very Hairy

There have been three intruders/rogue eagles perch in the nest tree. The third rogue eagle to visit is the one who has remained in the area and is the one with the most injuries to the toes and talons. When R23-3 (rogue eagle 2023, 3rd to visit) was eating in the nest, she did not intend to harm the eaglets but only to warn them to stay away from the food. There are many people doing videos of the happenings at the SWFEC eagle nest and they all have their own thoughts about what is happening.

Thank you. The day Harriet left the nest tree she had been vocalizing quite a bit and checking the skies. It was thought she may have left to give chase, but this is speculation on our part as to her actions. We have no idea what happened once she was out of view of the cameras. But it did appear she took flight away from the nest tree due to a perceived threat.

E22 is very smart and gets sufficient food from M and self feeding. In the majority of nests, the younger sibling is the one who "gets less" and learns to get fed in one way or another. Look at E22 today! 😊

Vicky..thank you for what you do. I know you love them. I know you are devoted. Why can't the babies be helped? WHY? That intruder was very mean to the babies today. I got banned from chat because I was grieving. I loved Harriett. Why are they treating us like the babies? Letting them get attacked by an intruder. This is Harriett's last set of babies. She is gone and maybe that intruder killed her and now her babies and you know at Decorah when that baby at the North nest died...the Mother fed the baby to the other eaglets. I do NOT WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN with Harriett's babies. Please help. Remember when E-17 and E-18 got intervention for an eye infection...why can't they save E21 and E22. Please help calm me.

Lord I know I’m chewing fingernails and was just screaming afraid she was going to grab E-22 (since he was closer to her while she was enjoying fish). I did get one tiny bit of enjoyment when E22 got a little head bonk so maybe she knows how it feels since she’s been beating on her sibling for days. Yet so thankful both of our beautiful E’s are safe and sound.

@oldrosebud1 This is nature unfolding before our eyes. Everyone is grieving for the potential loss of Harriet. M15 has to manage this situation on his own without human interference. He is very experienced and is thus far managing to care for his eaglets and protect his territory, but it is one day at a time and anything can happen. You do know the history of this nest? M15 is responsible for the loss of her first mate, Ozzie. We have no way to know what has caused Harriet to vanish. I follow both Decorah nests and yes, once an eaglet has passed it is considered a source of food. It is disturbing to us humans but nothing gets wasted in nature. The first time I saw this was with my barn owl cams and people were freaking out. I hope you can stay calm in the knowledge we simply are not in control and there were specific reasons and permissions granted to intervene in the past. Each situation is evaluated individually. Nothing here requires us to intervene. If something horrific happens just don’t watch and remember what everyone keeps telling us, “trust the eagles.” And keep your talons crossed they make it to fledge!! ❤

How brave and courageous from them both! They also learnt to be weary of strangers near their meal: they will likely want to take it! As for M, he learnt something too; do not be lenient and leave the nest if she is around! Oh, stranger lady 🦅 got one too: you'll be thrown out if you lift a talon at the kids! Overall I feel we are very fortunate, things could have turned far worse. And M was on turbocharger mode again, so many food items! He may have found a little peace (I know, sounds a bit absurd) with her being around at night. He seemed reinvigorated and has a lovely big crop. I, for one, am so thankful for everything at peace and everyone being fine & fed at the end of the day. May they and all faithful followers of this nest have a restful night. One day at a time💚🦅

Someone may need to intervene, as in us as human who are watching, make a call to a Raptor care taker where there is little food being brought in by M15 because of his new mate keeping him preoccupied. The issue is the little food being brought in is only being eaten by the larger female eagle & the little on is completely starving. I know there are guidelines not to interfere with nature, but in this case that makes no sense. We can see clearly what took place & the situation, & there is a very good reason to. We would not allow a human to starve if watching from a camera lens, & if gets to bad for the little one should do what we can to help him get nutrition & grow so he can become strong & healthy & become able to get his own food.

Robert, the E’s are well fed and M15 is providing food aplenty. M is also protector as well as provider and has adequately dealt with all the rogue eagles in a manner so no injury to the eaglets or himself occurs. M is not interested in a new mate and won’t be until next nesting season. I’m not sure how much you watch the cams, but the documentation is there for you to see that the E’s are doing great with Dad as the sole provider. Hope that helps.

The eagle did not pose a threat in M's eyes/mind at that time but he did flush the eagle away in the mornings quite a few times.

On Feb. 2nd when Harriet left the nest tree she had been vocalizing quite a bit and checking the skies. It was thought she may have left to give chase, but this is speculation on my part as to her actions. We have no idea what happened once she was out of view of the cameras. But it did appear she took flight away from the nest tree due to a perceived threat.

I find it strange that a female keeps coming to him and he has lost a female. What if some idiot thought he was taking a mated pair mail and female and he got Harriet and some other male instead and the female is missing her mate too. Not sure if this is possible but it seems like it might be.

It breaks my heart. M lost his voice calling for Harriet. It just tears me up. Now we see this new lady is evil. Not really sure but she attacked m’s babies and he won’t stand for that!!!!!!
