Beating Sabalenka and Sakkari back-to-back was really impressive. Iga has struggled against Sakkari in particular, and their match was neck-and-neck, but once she got to the final, I figured Iga would take it down. Great tourney. She looked as good as she has over the last year and a half.

@@freshmarex3538 she’s been doing slides before Tomasz. I think she’s very strong and is capable of doing them on HC as good as on clay. But it’s possible that players from Poland are influenced by Aga’s unique game style.

She beat an in form Halep in the 2020 Roland Garos , a grand slam champion. This tournament was great for Iga but comparing it to the French open would be an u der statement because she didn’t know play against a grand slam champion in Qatar

Iga is so close to taking the #3 spot and when that happens we have a top 3 in the WTA that really belongs in the ranks - all 3 having GS titles in their belts; Barty, Krejcikova, and Swiatek... Sabalenka is an odd one - she has yet to win a single Grand slam. Now if Muguruza can just hang tight and win more matches to go up from #9 to #4 then we have ourselves a Ranking contest. =)

3 top 10 players tested the quality of Iga and they guaranteed it. Sabalenka, in a strange form, but here much better, Sakkari & Kontaveit are undoubtedly very fit. Golubic, in the first round, was the only match where she conceded a set. Then, all in 2! Outrageous! Against 3 top ten!!
