She wrote “Enchanted” after she met the lead singer from Owl City (Adam Young) and he sang a response to the same song but changed the lyrics! It’s so sweet! He says he’s not in love with someone else and he was enchanted to meet her as well!My heart. And the song “Long Live”…forget about it. I get emotional every time!

About the music: when she’s the sole writer it means she wrote the music too, which is the case for Speak Now… she writes the melodies (even when she writes to track) but she also writes the music sometimes as well, it really depends on this stage in her career

I have a special memory with Speak Now. It came out when I was in college. I was dealing with a crush that didn't like me back, people who were criticizing me or underestimating me because I'm autistic, and burdened with anxiety and the college burnout. I love this album so much for helping me get through it all.

Really enjoying Swiftie Saturday!!! So, to clarify some things: - Taylot writes and composes all of her songs. - all of the re-recordings are done anew, produced by Taylor and Christopher Rowe, although for some exceptions the original producer is brought back for it. - the vault tracks are mainly produced by Taylor and Jack Antonoff or Taylor and Aaron Dessner. P.S. I hope when it's time for TTPD, that Carmen or Jen read what Taylor wrote on release day and the epilogue(the first time we get one, for all the other albums we always got a prologue). She usually writes the songs on piano or guitar, I believe. She also obviously does the melodies, but yeah, I'm not sure how exactly they decide on how to play / record each instrument. She has been credited as co-producer on her latest albums, too, though. But I don't know how that worked before or how long she has been doing it, tbh. I don't remember! But I'm curious, too!!

The crazy thing is that people STILL question whether or not she writes her songs. Nearly 20 years into her career. Taylor writes the bones of all her songs- the melody and lyrics. She starts them all on either guitar or piano. Then she presents them whichever producer she's working with who contributes beats, extra instrumentation and sometimes lyrics. They tend to guide the finished recording into whichever style she's looking for but she IS the songwriter.

She is not out there writing a sheet music, I don’t think. But for a lot of her songs, most of them i would say, she gets the melody in her head. And then they execute it in the studio with the producer and herself. So she also contributes to the production in a lot of her songs. It was mostly on folklore and evermore where Aaron Dresner had some tracks and she wrote lyrics to those. I believe the first time she ever wrote to track was in wish you would which is song on 1989. But most of her songs are born from her and her guitar or piano, melody and lyrics.

About the album: - Speak Now was Taylor's first album to sell $1M+ on it's first week of release. - The album originally was supposed to be named Enchanted, but her label thought that title too childish. Taylor went back to review the work she had done for the album and realized the theme of "things you want to say" then appropriately renamed it Speak Now. - Taylor worked on the melodies herself on this album. (actually Taylor didn't start writing to track until the album 1989; the first song she ever wrote to track was Out Of The Woods. Albums 1-4 Taylor was the one creating the melodies.) I usually give a little back story on the songs, but both of these songs and most of Speak Now is pretty self explanatory. Instead I thought I would introduce you to her band. Owl City is really just Adam Young, but you're correct. Taylor had a sort of crush on him, mostly coming from a point of being enamored with him as an artist and musician. Adam responded with a Enchanted (Adam's Version lol) once he found out it was about him.

This made me mad. I am shocked fans of Taylor don´t know that Taylor does not only write the lyrics. No. Taylor writes the song aka the lyrics AND melodies, producers help with instrumentals sometime and of course production, but she is highly involved in that too, they make what she wants... Taylor is a great musician and producer, not just a writer. When Aaron sent her instrumentals for folklore, she wrote the song aka main melody and lyrics over that instrumental. The instrumentals are not part of songwriting, but Taylor is a great person and thinks the instrumentals did help her to write so she gives writing credits for those eventhough it is not traditionally considered a part of the definition of songwriting. BUT, when she wrote Speak Now she wrote every melody and lyrics aka the songs and also instrumental melodies too, no matter what production was put on it. Please do not undermine her like this OMG.

Songwriting isn't just about lyrics, it includes writing the melodies too, the nuances, the pauses, the delivery. So yes, when you say she wrote this album all by herself, she wrote the melody as well. That's how her songwriting process is. Of course she collaborates with producers too like the examples you gave but she definitely writes her own melodies either by piano or by guitar.
