Getting into the fall season and the fishing is still pretty tough. We have been getting some regular cold fronts and with the weather sustaining these cooler temps, I have been throwing some swimbaits. Today was the day it all worked out and I had a few bites throwing one of my all-time favorites, the Division Rebel Tackle Tiny Klash. Today I went small lip with a v-tail which gives the bait a rolling action that throws a lot of light as it flashes from side to side. Basically, I treat this mode like it's a big squarebill crankbait. I give it some moderate fast reels with several intermittent pauses. Even though it is a very easy, low effort retrieve, it gets absolutely clobbered. For someone like me fishing out of a small kayak, when the wind picks up and it is impossible to keep good boat positioning, a no brainer retrieve can make all the difference between enjoyment and utter frustration.
