Swimming Dragon Qigong is for Strength, Flexibility & a Healthy Spine. We mimic the dragon through coiling, twisting, stretching, and opposing force motions in order to develop resiliency - a harmony of strength and flexibility, as my teacher Lee Holden would say - throughout the body and mind. This style of Qigong is a little bit like Yoga, except you never have to put your weight on your hands.
This flow was filmed next to the gorgeous Payette River about 2 hours north of Boise Idaho. Unfortunately my lights weren't strong enough to illuminate me against the backdrop, so I had to increase the exposure so you could see me, which means you can't see this beautiful river very clearly. I've finally caved and ordered a very expensive heavy duty portable light, so I will not be putting any scenery like this to waste again!

It's 4am right now where I'm at and after a night of my Fibromyalgia acting up at work this routine has been a huge help in releasing the pain and tension as well as helping me relax for bed. I found your channel Monday night and I honestly glad that I subscribed to you. Doing your routines back to back with Qigong with Kseny i is worth it.

Just found you while looking for pa kau forms in practice to help with a putting pictures from a book in motion. Interested in sharing knowledge if you are. Taken parts out of many books over the years, practiced and felt it. Noticed your bare feet and see you may know things. They say those who know don't speak and those who speak don't know. The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal one. I apologize for my forward nature in this, but you know who you are. Thank you for helping others to find their own way. Keep those bones breathing.

Are all of the exercises here part of the Swimming Dragon Chi Kung or are there additional ones you added? Some of them seem to be similar to other animal exercises from the 5 animal frolics.

There's a lot of crossover between Qigong systems. I didn't add anything, but I'm sure the original creators took inspiration from older styles. Good eye!

@@TheNickLoffree I'd try again. Perhaps describe it as meditation and qigong with a description that references associations with yoga. Thought of you when I noticed Lane Holbert class tomorrow at 9 titled Mid week chi. I tried one of his classes - you are so much better. Good luck - their customer service seems to have improved.

Two years have gone since my first comment on this routine. Meanwhile you spoil us with many, many classes. Sometimes I don’t know which ones to focus on. What’s needed now? I felt so energized after Swimming Dragon, Nick, thank you! I could feel the 'buzz' in my body! I like that the energy work-out in this routine has a dynamic that suits Western bodies, too, but still has respect for its eastern origins. Although I love the mindful aspect of Qigong (I have practiced for a number of years), I also enjoy stronger movements that make your body feel more 'stretched' after! Many thanks.
