At my local high school state meet, the FASTEST boys struggle to break :50 ...This kid went 45.8 at age 14 (barely a freshman)! That would've been fast enough to make B finals at NCAAs last year. 14 year olds even having NCAA cuts is insane to me

the best teacher is experience. books help but only so much. i have learned more from every coach ive swam for than any book could ever teach me

Coaches were once swimmers themselves so its also a lot about there own experience. Of course the sport changes and technique can change but coaches can make swimmers feel the grit and sweat that they once felt cause they have being through it.
