The stand-out reason that this movie really hits home is the fact that it didn't fall into the cliche of the movie ending with him being crazy and it all being his imagination. The director's were bold enough to land with the premise that he found a magical, farting, useful corpse that saved his life and as an audience you are left with one last shock in a movie filled with jaw dropping moments.

@@mozziegang right people always take things at face value. It has to either be literally real or the main character has to be crazy. Stories can be so much more than that though. This is why they need to do better job teaching lit in schools

@@yum8666 I think what we should actually be teaching in school is the ability to be open to knowledge, anywhere it comes from. Even if we have good teaching material we'd never be able to interest kids in them if they have no interest in listening. We need to reach the root cause which is disinterest and their tendency to prioritize information based on interests only and not importance too

Damn Daniel Radcliff is such a great actor. Swiss army man, Horns, What if, Guns Akimbo. Damn this guy does theatre regularly and then comes to do these awesome weird movies. I love every second of it.

There are not many channel reacting this movie and I'm glad they do it. One of my favourite movies in my personal list, at least among the movies I've seen in my life. I've always thought that Daniel Radcliffe deserved a bunch of awards for this performance. Both actors were amazing. I think that when a movie manages to take us out from our comfort zone (in an artistic way), exposing our fears and shames as human beings on the screen, that's a piece of art to me, and this movie reached that point IMO. 😄

Absolutely. This movie has so many beautiful messages, and it helped me to really confront my discomfort with the human body ingrained in me by fundamentalist Christian attitudes. It's the kind of movie that you either think is beautiful, are weirded out by but forced to start thinking from, or just find too weird and gross because you're too closed off to really listen to it.

This movie is the reason why I had complete faith when walking into EEAAO without having watched any trailers for it.

I fell SOOOOOO in love with this movie when it first came out, it went straight up to my top 3 of all time, so when EEAAO trailer came out I didn’t even bother watching just started counting down until it hit the theatre, and boy oh boy it did not disappoint! I love both movie very much but Swiss Army Man will always remain close to my heart. Btw, the whole soundtrack is sung by the 2 actors, Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, and it is amazing!!! I really love this movie so much!!

I honestly think this movie is about a very sad man falling in love with life again. He was very suicidal and in explaining life to manny he began to notice how much he took for granted. He explains that his mother died when he was a child and now because of a joke his mother once made to him now even something as normal as self pleasure now makes him think of his mom so he doesn’t do it anymore adding to his agony. His relationship with his father too isn’t very much present. The movie explains to love one’s weirdness and one’s natural being because as a society we judge everything even something as natural as farting. Then at the end it’s revealed that manny might be a bridge jumper aka he probably took his own life so it definitely adds a new level teaching a dead corpse to love life again. Sometimes movies aren’t meant to just taken at surface level but have extremely deep meaning. And regarding you thinking he might be special, I doubt that’s the point. I think the point was that sometimes we use words like retard to bash people who are just but more weird or creative as a way to dismiss it. This isn’t even really a theory considering every interview Daniel radcliff made of this movie he explains this same thing. I would suggest watching an explanation video to better understand this incredible film.

Fun fact: Daniel Radcliffe loved the hyper-realistic dead dummy of himself so much that he promoted the movie by taking it out for photos at famous places, including on a roller coaster xD Go look for the promo photos, they're hysterical!

I just watched this recently for the first time. Initially I was so confused and conflicted...but I've found those are the movies that often times become my favorites. Jaby I agree with your comments about the Daniels taking big swings and putting all their passion, creativity, and heart behind it. I respect that. There are so many mediocre and safe movies being made I'm glad we have filmmakers like this who take chances. EEAAO was my favorite movie this year and I feel like it was them striking the perfect balance between their weirdness and a story that can connect with a wider audience.

The farting, the boner scenes, the lingering shots of nudity, they're all very purposeful. They're there to challenge our discomfort about it. To challenge our discomfort with basic parts of the human condition. It's actually quite masterful and hard-hitting when you really listen and consider the film's messages.

I like that movie so much, I love the actors, I love the Damiels and the way they approach making movies. I have seen this movie a few times now and I still haven't figured out everything for me. Sure it is this story about a weirdo and outcast who wanted to kill himself and discovers the love for the beautiful things in life again through this ... new friend. But everything with this poor woman, it is so invasive and even though I know what he feels like, I don't see how his invasive behavior fits into all of this. It is a great movie and the reason why I was so excited for EEAAO.

I feel like I’m the only one who saw this as a love story. Not romantic love, but just love. All the most significant loves through my life had nothing to do with romance, and people misunderstand how special and deep that love is. My grandpa, my best friend in high school, my dog… loved them more than any guy I’ve ever dated.
