Before I got Thrustmaster I was using a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick I used back in the days of FS9/FSX, it still works great with MSFS. Those are easy to find used in the $10-$20 range.

yep, 2006 cd/dvd drives were still pretty standard instead of download drivers as the most common windows xp didnt have drivers ready to plug n play everything. not like today where you just slap it in and boom it works.
