@KIP_KnowledgeIsPower3 жыл бұрын
@@MakeItALifeStyle-1 I’m wondering that myself as it appears if you don’t turn iCloud photos off 1st, it might erase photos/everything off your new phone once you wipe it too because as he demonstrated, having iCloud photos turned on & deleting just 1 photo from either phone will also automatically delete it from both phones because they’re syncing (mirroring) each other if they’re both signed into the same Apple ID/iCloud account (& any other devices signed into the same Apple ID with iCloud photos turned on too). So because he showed that happens when you delete just 1 photo if iCloud photos is turned on, it makes absolute sense that people are wanting to make 100% sure that so long as they have their iCloud photos setting on both/all devices turned off while doing this, that all of their photos & data will remain safe & in place on their new device (except the phone their trying to erase of course), more to the point, that that’s the only setting that needs to be changed to keep the new phone completely untouched when wiping the old one. Once it’s done, it’s done & not everyone uses iCloud back up’s & what not (I know I don’t) so people want/need to be super sure. I believe from what he’s saying, so long as you’ve already transferred your photos & data from your old phone over to your new phone by putting them beside each other when you 1st turn the new phone on & it does it’s full data transfer thing, I believe once that’s done (otherwise there’s nothing on the new phone to loose anyway if that hasn’t been done), then so long as you have iCloud Photos setting in your Apple ID settings turned off (I assume on both phones, at least while doing this), then you should be safe & everything that’s been transferred or added to your new phone should remain in tact because the phones aren’t syncing/sharing photos ect between them now…. I fully understand why people are concerned though. I think I understood that video pretty well but I’m still nervous, I’m about to do it though so I’ll let everyone know how it goes 😑🤞🏼… ⚠️ Just a suggestion. I just did this now first. I took stumbled upon & took 1 extra step before watching this video, trying to ensure syncing had definitely stopped between my phones so I didn’t loose anything on the new one when I wipe the old… I went on my NEW phone & removed my old phone as a device in “my devices” as I’ll be giving my old phone to my Mum once it’s wiped anyway. A pop up came up telling me that by removing my old phone as a device in my Apple ID (my new phone is listed there too now), my old phone would automatically be signed out of my Apple ID/iCloud account (it still kept me signed in on my new phone) & that basically, I would just have to log into my Apple ID/iCloud account again on the old phone if I wanted to use my Apple ID on it again (which I don’t) & I can also still wipe the phone without needing to be signed into any ID either so that’s just 1 extra step I just took to further ensure no syncing is still going on…. Okay guys, wish me luck, here I go, I’ll let you know soon 😬🤞🏼

For the user asking about accessing Google photos, you can download Google photos to your iPhone & sign into your Google account. Google makes it that simple. I can't believe the degree to which Apple complicates the most basic of functions! I use Android but since my son uses Apple, I use one of his old iPhones to manage some things for him. Apple's worst offense is not only complicating actions for seemingly no reason, but also showing vague, misleading warnings that cause users to hesitate & second guess what they're about to do (I'm willing to bet that's the cause for the majority of views here) When I need to do something simple, such as access content on my device & in my cloud storage in order to delete, or maybe just to turn on/off sync... on my Android it's pretty much a straightforward, quick action without the urge to bang my head against the wall in frustration, but when attempting the equivalent action on Apple, I become so frustrated and annoyed that I consider just buying more storage so I don't have to deal with it - Yeah, I'm going there. When I stated above that Apple complicates things for seemingly no reason, well.. there's always a reason, and more often than not, money is at the root. We all know that Apple's success wasn't due to superior products, but to the genius marketing that Steve Jobs brought to the company. Over the years, marketing can only do so much, and other strategies played out. Such as when, after so many years of new features added with each new iPhone launch, the number of people rushing to buy the newest iPhone decreased because they simply didn't feel the need, they were happy with what they were using. I remember how Apple solved that issue! Hint: class action lawsuit revealing that Apple was slowing older phones as newer models emerged. So... I might be wrong, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to learn that Apple decided to focus on "improving" another aspect of their business model, storage plans (note, improving for Apple, not for users) Why not, right? The need for more storage will only grow as the years go on, so why not complicate things like storage management.. things that, by paying just another few bucks a month, afford people the luxury of not having to actually "manage" anything.
