I greatly appreciated this video. I am 66 years old and depend on my children for all tech help. My old phone was on its last breath and no one was available to help me. Your video is very easy to follow. The only step you did not cover was an iOS update and that threw me. I had to start the process over. Thanks to your instructions, I was able to reset the phone and start over. I also I had to take out the SIM card of the old and put it in the new. I even had to look up a video for that. Fortunately, StraightTalk had one.

Need to KNOW, BEFORE TRYING THIS!!! Charge both phones first. Had started this process, now tells me must update to iOS 14.6 on new phone 12 pro max. Waited 20 minutes to download and prepare, now gives me error and stalls cause new phone must be AT LEAST 50% charged! Arrrggggggg, frikin Apple. And guess what? No charger in box anymore cause of some treehugger bull$hit lies, it’s USB-C and old chargers don’t work and of course no adapter. Old charger and cord will work on USB A, but way frikin lower power and slow. Taking this back f*ck you Apple!!

I first backed up old iPhone to iCloud and turned on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. I then turned the new phone on to make sure I saw the white screen and then I turned the new phone off. When both phones were off I put the SIM card from the old phone to the new phone and then turned them both on. I then followed the steps in the video, at the Transfer Your Data step I did the download from iCloud option. Everything worked great. Thank you!

As in “turn off” do you mean shut down completely by holding both the power and volume buttons? Or just tapping the power button so the phone actually turns off? Also, did you only have one SIM card in this process, originating from your old phone? Or did both phones have SIM cards? And you switched them out? Just bought a new phone that was already unlocked and a deactivated SIM and instead of going to purchase to turn it on, I figured this transfer would be best. I appreciate your time and some feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

I can’t echo the accolades shown in the comments loudly enough. I must have tried well over a dozen ‘instructional’ videos (including Apple support) and got absolutely nowhere trying to setup my new iPhone 15 Pro Max. And then I found this video! I don’t know your name but Star would be a decent effort at a nickname. Because that’s what you are. Everyone else told me to ‘Reset to Factory’ or some such instruction. THANK YOU! This helped me so much because: 1. You said that the new phone should have the same or newer iOS. My old phone ran 14.7 beta, so I was struggling at first! Because of this video, i upgraded my new phone to beta and restore them (resetting phone has no impact to your iOS). Then I can finally see the Transfer to New Device option! 2. But then it progresses so so sooo slowly. I noticed that when the progress bar shows, the wifi indicator suddenly vanishes.. i try to contact Apple Care but their suggestion is to downgrade the iOS which i do not prefer. I don’t have a PC or Mac to restore the back up from iTunes. I watched your video again and i notice that you too lose the wifi indicator during transfer, probably that was normal and my transfer was just too slow? I noticed the bar moves sloooowly though. Ngl you took only 33 minutes so it’s normal that I panicked, because mine in the end took 8 hours (i slept through it). The time estimation continued to stuck at “3 hours more” but the bar moves and when in the end i finally see the “Transfer Completed” you don’t understand how happy I was 😭 now my new iPhone looks like it’s from my old phone! Damn, i dont even need to re-register my mobile banking again. This is a cool feature, thanks for the video!

Our phone wouldn’t scan the new phone thing, so we had to do it manually. Just a six digit passcode one phone gave us to put in the other phone. Everything else was spot on. (Oh, and the new agreement with apple) Thanks again!

I just had both phones switched on and as soon as they were near enough to each other a message popped up asking if I wanted to transfer information from one to the other. Took about 10 minutes, but I only have just under 500 photos and not that many apps. Obviously the more information you need to transfer, the longer it is likely to take. Hi, a great video, I agree! But I have 2 questions. 1) At what point do you change the sim cards? Does it matter? 2) What if my old phone cannot back up on the cloud as I have 50GB there (and don't want to pay for more space)? Can I go ahead without the backup? Thanks!

In the beginning of the video he says you have 2 choices. Either backup from the cloud or, from your phone. So if you didn’t backup from the cloud because not enough memory I would then choose the phone as my backup, does that make sense? At least that’s my understanding. As to your 1st question, I’d like to know the answer to that one also.
