I always enjoy watching your videos. Your detailing is very nice! You have a way with industrial buildings. Especially like the exterior lighting you have on many of your building's. Thanks for sharing!

Switch lists are the way to go in my opinion. Was never a fan of the old car card system
@longislandrailroadmontaukb982 Жыл бұрын
I know! So much paper and shuffling for something that only gives an illusion of randomness. I guess it might make sense for larger railroads modelling division yards and such, but I'm not a big fan of that either.

I randomly ran across this comment a year later… I agree with how cumbersome the car card and waybill system is… but I still use it on my switching layout. I operate my steel mill shelf layout with active scrap loads, which get “unloaded” during an operating sequence. I have yet to figure out an alternative with less paperwork.

I love these! I basically model the same general area, only in N Scale!

That's great! It's a fascinating area, so dense with industries. I don't think I could do N scale, though.

What about the narrow gauge yard with that sweet centercab loco?
@longislandrailroadmontaukb98210 ай бұрын
I ended up tearing out all the NG stuff because it just didn't work to my satisfaction. There were problems with the track, switches, engines, couplers, and operational design. I'm going to take it all and make a small diorama with it, so it won't be a total loss.

Enjoyed the video. How do you uncouple the cars in that ramp in the building?

I use my skewer to carefully lever up one car, trying not to derail anything. Thanks for watching!

@@longislandrailroadmontaukb982 , I haven't seen a Fairbanks-Morse on your layout, have I? Only Alcos? Or am I old and confused? 'All of the above' is an option too.

@@jeffbranch8072 Yes, I have an FM H16-44. It's currently resting. The LIRR mainly ran ALCOs but had some FM at the time.
