Switching to the Canon R5 Mark II? What R6 II Photographers MUST Know!

Finally a review from a perspective I can relate to! I have the R6 mk II and R6. I am not sure whether to upgrade to an R5 mk II or just invest in more lenses.

@@cjm8160 I appreciate you saying that (and being here!) you and I have had the same set up; I actually sold my original R6 to invest in glass. That should tell you something based on your professional curiosity. I will say this, however: I am 75% of the way convinced that an R5 Mark II is in my near future. We are always told to invest in glass, but a great body will take our lenses to the next level. Think about that, take all of the time that you need.

It could be worth selling your R6i and getting a R5ii if you can afford it. The 45mp could give you some flexibility as needed. Especially if shooting with 2 cams.

@@BrianHallmond probably not about price. I’m sure it’ll still be up there in about six months. I was referring to its availability. If I order now, I’ll probably get it in one or two months because of the demand as opposed to perhaps two weeks six months from now.

I have the R6 Mark II and have preordered the R5 Mark II and trying to decide whether I want to cancel as it gets closer to release. I like the idea of the eye control focus and prioritizing subjects along with being 45 MP. I photograph a lot of roller derby

Hey! That’s awesome. I definitely would not cancel that order. 1. Because they’re going to sell out fast: if you do you will have to wait a VERY long time and 2. It is going to be an absolute beast for what you do. Roller Derby requires a fast paced camera and the R5 Mark II is the body for the job. Those two features together will make your life so easy, not to mention the images are going to come out so nicely!

@@FranciscoAlvarezTV, I agree. It is just the cost. I also like to photograph other things like the moon and wildlife and looking at the ability to crop images with the 45 MP. I have no complaints with the R6M2 and is a vast improvement over the 5D Mark 4 in focusing the action. I will then have to decide if I want to keep the R6M2 as a second body or sell to put towards the new one.

@@chiliverde66 that is actually very smart thinking. 45 megapixels will definitely come in handy for all that miscellaneous photography you plan on shooting. You and I are in an industry that is ever so evolving and I think that “the latest and greatest“ technology will always pique our interest. I know the new body is not the cheapest, and if you have to cushion the blow of the finances by parting ways with your R6, then show it. If you feel comfortable with your decision, that is all that matters. I wholeheartedly believe that if you have the new camera in your hands, you will not regret it.

Own R6 mark II currently, was on R6 before then. I have R5 mark II preordered. I wanted an R5 when it originally came out but went with the R6 and invested in lenses. I have 7 RF L lenses now so can splash on a camera. I was on Nikon D850 before that. Looking forward to having 45 mega pixels again 😃 you covered off all the valid points! It’ll be a fantastic camera no doubt 👌

Hey, Kevin! Thanks for being here and the feedback. Right on, man! You're going to love that body and, if I were to pull the trigger like you, I'm sure the turnover on it would be a lot longer (if at all) than the R6 line. I'm guessing that body would stay relevant for more than the R5's shelf life. Congrats!

Cfexpress B cards are significantly less expensive than SD v90 cards! In some cases less than half the price. You can purchase a 1tb cfexpress B card for $300-$400 sometimes less. A uhs v90 512gb will run you around $500.

The cfexpress type A are more expensive. Maybe that is where the confusion is.

Sony uses type A cards. The size is identical to SD cards and are slower than the type B. So as a Canon shooters we can't use the type A which I'm not mad at! 😂 ​@@FranciscoAlvarezTV

If you have the bride and groom on priority, but in the shot you wanna get the Groom over the Bride but it's going to the bride since she's in the top spot. What then? Especially when it's a quick moment.

Great question. I would be surprised if in that moment you couldn’t tap to focus to override manually. I also use to joystick to hover through the people in the frame. Shouldn’t be much of a hassle.

I may have mentioned that it's nothing new but when you pair that concept with TODAY'S technology, it can definitely help a lotta people vying for the best AF ever. Think of the shots you WON'T miss at all now...

Just be careful not to have 95% of your photos are with the bride only in focus because you prioritized her face. LOL
