Sheila made me cry too!!! Damn mascara! I feel that so much, because my dad loved his car too - except it was a 1967 Mercury Comet we called the Vomit Comet! We haaaaated it in 1985, but wish we had it now!
@KodyK20243 жыл бұрын
Sheila, your Dad must have been such a awesome man. Your smiles and tears when you speak of him are so endearing. Many years ago my ex-husband and I had a 1973 conversion year Vette. Fiberglass nose, metal back bumper, dark green with T-Tops. Nothing like that feeling of driving a Vette since it is low to the ground and wide.

I love Kentucky. I lived there a couple of years. If you go back that way you should visit West Kentucky. Paducah is nice and the LBL, Land between the Lakes, Grand Rivers, Pennyrlle Forest state park etc. The little town of Cadiz. All of that is just above Nashville so you can make quite a trip of it.

Sheila, buy a paver on the Corvette Museum website and honor your dad with it. I think they are $125. My best friend had two Vettes. He loved them. When he died, I ordered a paver with his name on it. They place them in the sidewalks around the museum. They will send you a map of its location so you can see it when you go back. I think for $75, they make a duplicate and send it to you. Love your videos. I’m a native Kentuckian. Lived here all my life. Your videos are spot on. Some folks put their RV travels through KY on Utube and I’m embarrassed about how much they don’t know or care to learn about our history and culture. Hope you had an Ale-8-One before you left the Bluegrass. Safe Travels. Hope to see you on the road as wife and I start our travels in a couple weeks.

Thank you for sharing your travels. We visited Bowling Green ourselves in 2019. We stayed at the Thousands Trails park just North of the town. ( It is located along one of the entrances to Mammoth Cave.) We also toured the Vette museum. The factory was closed to retool for the new Vettes. Fun personal fact. When I started teaching in Tampa, I had lunch frequently with several Vette owners. We made our table exclusive as a Vette owners table. The story was I owned an 83 (the only year one was not produced.) The museum has one of the only 1983's not crushed. Prototype cars are normally crushed so that they do not surface at a later date. They are also not able to be registered or titled (no vin plates). The story goes that this one was rolled into a warehouse and hidden from exec's so that is could be saved.

Oh there is no way I could go in that cave. Not because of the Nelson voice, but because of the drop offs. I am terrified of heights and those holes would have sent me freaking out. We have learned over the years to find out about bridges, open stairs and drop offs before paying to go inside.

I would love to go in that cave, my wife not so much. I once went through a cave on the island of Guam when I was stationed there in the Marines. OK, funny that in Todd’s history version the guy’s name is Gerald (my husband’s official name), and actual guy’s name was Albert (my husband’s grandpa’s name). Just thought that was funny. We did a Mammoth tour years ago and were bussed to the cave entrance. There was a cafe down there part way through the tour and an elevator where handicapped people could come down in to the cave. Also did the corvette museum and factory tour. Need to go back though because we were there pre-sinkhole. Love watching you guys and hoping to see you in Michigan!
