Glad you ended up reviewing this one. I actually remember you reviewing the individual games back in your old channel! Honestly think this is by far the laziest port I've seen on a game collection but it's hard to say no to Psikyo's games. Not sure if it's already been covered in this channel but you should review the Darius collection!

Great video Jordan! I have these digitally and I have to say Dragon Blaze is spectacular. I would definitely pick up a physical copy if all of the games were included.

I think that one came out a year or so ago. Unfortunately we have so little time to review games which have already dropped as we have so many publishers asking us to review their games. Nice problem to have but I can say we have good friends that say it's a decent enough game and probably sits around the 6.5 to 7 mark.

Since these collections are on sale right now, I was rewatching this video. I’m assuming that by now you have picked up a TV wall mount that rotates 90 degrees from landscape to portrait, but wanted to mention it just in case!

It makes a tonne of sense why they pslit thewse games into 6 on the dashboard. Think about it. Tons of us already bought at least a few of these games already and have high scores. By doing this, our original game save data will work when we plop the game csaard in. It would suck if we lost all our game save data and it had new game save data for the colection separate. It seems odd at first but when u thiunk abou t it I am actually impressed they did it this way.

A great review. I have the Asian releases, it's definitely a great collection of games. I've never been a big shooter fan but I do enjoy the genre and these contain some of my favourites. By the way, any chance we'll see a Blazing Chrome review? I can't imagine you guys passing that one up.

There are in game settings function scanlines? Without this feature, no depth, and these games need it to look right.

Yes, there are just a couple of filters, nothing major, but I do like the most extreme setting for scanlines which you can see during playing Dragon Blaze in TATE

Love Psikyo because they make the best shmup! I bought most of them from eShop when they were released because I couldn't wait! Wish I could held off! 😯 Those are US$8 and I don't think they're ever on sale! I had 2 out of 6 games from Vol. 1 so I think I could buy Vol.1 but I have 5/6 games from Vol. 2 so I don't think I'll buy that. But... who knows, those are worth it to be on my shelve so I might bite the bullet and buy it!

It's nice having it on the shelf, but it's hard to buy physical when bought digitally already. I only save that for special releases (like this one!)

@@SwitchWatch I know, but it's because I like those games so much! There are some games that I have on different platforms like Metal Slug, I have on PC, PS4, Switch and those shmup from Psikyo are classics! I don't have any Strikers yet and the weird Zeron Gunner 2 yet, so I can buy Vol. 1. But for Vol. 2, I think I have 4 or 5 of them, so I'm still thinking about that.

@fripp555 Is any of them on Switch? I believe I play most, if not all, Capcom shmup's like 1941, 1943, 19xx,1944, Gigawing, some from Hudson Soft (Twin Bee, Cotton?) Those are MAME arcade roms. I'm not familiar with Compile (I might have but I just don't know who made those) I love Psikyo because they're best known for shmup games (just like SNK is known with NeoGeo for fighting games) and the graphics are my style

@fripp555 I've played all of Capcom and Cave (Donpachi's) shmup, some from Hudson Soft (Soldier Blade, Vanishing Earth) and Compile (Gun-Nac) I recognized the names from Hudson Soft & Compile although I don't remember much game playing. Maybe it's time to revisit and check out those games that I haven't played! By the way, NIS America started taking preorders for Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha Limited Edition & Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo Limited Edition (which are the same as Japanese Vol.1 & Vol. 2) They are $59.99 which are $3 more than their Japanese counterparts (I guess it's because they include the soundtracks which the Japanese version doesn't have it) If I didn't have any one in those collection, I would have preordered it. I guess most fans either already bought digital or imported from Playasia. They're too late for the game that they should have lowered the price to sell those!

I don't think that one actually made it to the eShop yet, we usually get sent codes by ZeroDiv and that one has never come.

My brother's Switch has Strikers 1945 1 and 2, as well as Gunbird 1 and 2. I do have Strikers 1945 3 on Android. Will see if he would like to get it or not......

have all these individually bar 1999 as that doesn't seem to be available in English speaking e shops.. SO I spent $50 AUD on the others, at 10 a pop.. kind of regret it now.. having that physically for 20 bucks more would have been awesome (well, plus ship and tax, so more like 30$ more, but still, 1999 is there which I have never played).. That said, clocked them all, and loved them all bar sol divide (ok but a bit boring) and ZG2.. Yep, i am one of the few that doesn't like Zero gunner 2.. It all has to do with the controls which never felt right to me. I might double dip as this may be worth something in 10 years or so. Thinking about it. Great games overall though,

I was planning to buy it on play-Asia (because i love physical releases) for my birthday (who happen to be today the 13th) when I saw this news So this is a little news for every Psikyo shmups lovers who doesn't want to import from Asia : NIS America has just announced they will put the Psikyo Collection (Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and PSS Bravo) in North America and in Europe in early 2020. You'd need to be properly hardcore to notice anything like that. Most people won't even notice anything. I was shocked when I saw their review. Fair enough to their opinion but it did make me spit my coffee out.

I'm probably somewhere near your level of enthusiasm for the genre, but I don't think I noticed anything wrong with Gunbird, which may be the only Psikyo game I have. Still... its a little bit annoying to know that it should feel tighter and I'm not getting arcade perfection. Also, I do notice input lag occasionally, so it can't be THAT terrible. Hmm... I may have to take a closer look. It would be nice to see a technical demonstration of the lag on Switch compared to other Switch games, and compared to the original version... but at the end of the day, I'm probably just gonna buy these games anyway. :P (So don't worry about improving them, devs, we'll buy 'em anyway!) BTW, I really appreciate the work you put into covering these types of games, so thanks!

I bought strikers 3 individually. No level select to practice. Thats lazy. No chance of learning the game without level select

This reminds me of the metroid prime trilogy. This is a fact, I wil explain. If you bought Metroid Prime 3 on wii, and then later you picked up Metroid prime trilogy, it turns out, you cannot use your primce 3 save file with prime 3 ont he trilogy! it has ists own save file for the trology! And they changed it so much yuo cannot even use hacking software to extract the prime 3 save data after the fact!
