Gunbird 2 and Tengai are two of the best shmups ever made. Great review, well done.

Glad to see Shmups being reviewed on Switch. Not many quality reviews out there for the genre! One game everyone must get is ESP Ra. De. Psi! It's a Japan only title and an absolute must have. Please do a separate review of you can, we need to take it mainstream! It's M2 Shit Triggers, the best SHMUP developers in the business!!

I used to play Gunbird 1 and 2 on PS1 and Sega Saturn and it was fun with animated opening and voice acting. Tengai aka Sengoku Blade is also my favourite since Koyori is my favourite Waifu who is not just THICC but her bomb attack is one of the coolest attack in shumps!

Waiting in anticipation for an upgraded Cave collection (like the one ported on 360) but complete to hit Switch along with extras and shit. That would be so awesome. These collections are cool and I will still get them (late to getting a Switch so don't have them yet) but Cave>Psikyo for me.

I used to play GUNBIRD2 on the Dreamcast and Morrigan from darkstalkers was a secret character. Is she in this port for the switch as welll ?

A Shmup? Must be Jordan! :D Nice review! Bought all the games already in their single versions, so it's not really a reason to buy this Collection unfortunately. For the vertical shooters I recommend a Beamer. With a Xgimi MogoPro you can project the picture as you like and as big as you like. ;)

I must be an exception but I waited for the Occidental edition for the Alpha and Bravo Editions :-) And I must confess I already bought half of the Psikyo shmups on the e-shop before :p

Both Gunbird games and Tengai are indeed superb! Played Gunbird 2 and Samurai Aces on my phone many years ago, and they're fun as well!

There is a standard edition. I've seen them at some Walmarts, Best Buys and only one EB Games. All of the stores are in the Canada

I preordered the Bravo collection. I had Tengai and Gunbird 2 digitally. But, my favorite Schmup so far is Strikers1945 the 1st one. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Psikyo made some of the best shmup games and those games were already released waaaay long time ago in both digital & physical formats, so NIS America is waaaay too late. I bought bought some of those from eShop but I also bought the whole collection when it was released on cartridge. I think it could have been sold more if NIS America released it in standard edition with a cheaper price because for those that already had it on digital format could have double dipped in physical format if the price is lower. Yeah, Gunbird 1&2 are also my most favorite and that makes Bravo edition a better choice but any shmup fans should have both in their collection!

Bravo is easily better than Alpha, but I picked up both anyways. Somehow I managed to hold out on buying the digital releases until the NA versions were announced.

I really like the combination of 2d and 3d, because it's weird but also gives some visual depth. Like it and live when modern 2d games do it as well (blasphemous is an example, right in the beginning).

Okay I have a copy of mobile light Force 1 on PS1 and I just received bravo it seems that mobile light Force 1 and gunbird 1 are the same game does anybody have any explanation for me I'm confused I already had this damn game

Not personally. I'm not that hardcore. Plus I don't actually like using arcade sticks for shooters. Feels less accurate than a d-pad.

Are these Worth getting on Switch Lite?

The screen is obviously small in Horizontal mode. You can still rotate the screen, but unfortunately you can't completely customize the controls so not every game is optimal this way :/ However, these are all great games, have very optional difficulty, and even 1 collection has enough variety along with their individual replayability to warrant a purchase.

I play my vertical shmups in handheld mode on the OG Switch and it's just fine (idk if there's so much difference in size with the Lite, but TATE isn't necessary by any means... just better)

Well, I'd say a Switch Lite isn't the ideal way to play. But it's certainly not something I would say avoid.

All great games but I lost interest when I realized it was localized by NIS America. NISA has burned me way to many times in how they butcher games in localization. For example, Disgea D2 still to this day has a glitch that can brick your PS3 all because they altered the code for some damn reason in localization and where too lazy and incompetent to actually fix the issue. These types of NISA issues are infamous and well known if you look them up where NISA has a history of attempting to censor the US release in ways that leave the games in a broken/buggy state.
