Fun following along. Enjoy your perspective and narrative and the countryside. PCTPTSD … under, over, around … made me smile with those memories.✨

Hi Lauren thanks for your great KZbin videos of the HT. I am planning to go in 2025. Could you show some more of the logistics. Such as the other day you went to the supermarket, how do you manage not buying too much, what do you eat for breakfast, dryed food you take, are you using a french gas canister and cooker or the others. Some logistical points would be really great. Like some saying bon a petite before eating is a really great example. Thanks for the clips Will King

I’m going to be putting together a guide after I’m finished with the hike! It’s hard to put all the logistics into the videos :)

Hey! If you’re still planning on hiking the hexatrek, I wrote a guide book to help out with logistics and what to expect! You can download it here: www.laurenroerick.com/store/p/hiking-the-hexatrek-the-complete-guide

Its much better than what Americans eat on the PCT / AT but as a French it is still hard to watch what she is eating days after days. She found a few things she likes and sticked to those few products. What a culinary missed opportunity! 😇

@@Kiev-in-3-days hi, just curious. What would you change or recommend in regards of food? What could she try to eat but have not yet? I mean she can’t eat in restaurants every day…

I usually eat snacks while hiking. It helps with the calories... 😊 The border is a bit crazy and the Doubs is nice. Glad you found a better road next to the rivier... Are you not having to much problems with the heatwave and the Storms. All the best! Kaat

Fun fact, there are 3 theories for that stereotype: 1) Because French nobility almost never bathed, fearing warm water would make their muscles weak. That's why they wore wigs, face powder and perfumes, to hide the smell. 2) Because of 19th century French explorers that wandered all around the world. Natives associated the smell with the nationality. Hiker trash has a long history. 3) Because public bathing facility were insufficient in Paris in the early 20th century, and British media publicised that. As a Frenchman I think it's overblown, personally my last bath in July was a tremendous success.
