Bishorn looks like the perfect choice for a first 4,000m mountain! 🏔 The trek from Zinal to Cabane de Tracuit definitely seems more rewarding than a quick lift ride. Those longer days and remote views must make the experience truly memorable. Thanks for sharing this perspective - inspiring for anyone looking to take on a real challenge in the Alps! 🌄🥾

@@TalesFromAbroad-SJ Thanks for watching! It's definitely a rewarding route 🏔️

Looks like you did the winter approach to the Cabane the Tracuit, which is way longer, from Zinal you could go straight up, it is steeper but definitely shorter. Not great in winter with skies, but fine in summer.

It would be nice to see a video about how you recover after a climb and how you keep your physic up in between climbing.

I'm probably the 2nd worst person to give advice on recovery, the 1st one is Viv 😂

I can understand your reasoning 😁but doing the Breathorn gives a bit more "security" because it is so close to everything and that can be a comfort for a novice (like I was when I did the Breithorn)

The mountain you show at 3:10 is called Zinalrothorn, not Weisshorn. The Weisshorn is to the left and is hidden by the terrain. You can see it at 3:58 instead Cool video though

3:09 it is not Weisshorn! Its ZinalRothorn with beautiful Bianco Grat.

Great video !! As some one who has climbed mountains in Garmish Partenkirchen in Germnay around 2600 metres and 3500 m in India. I wanted to know how did you gain expertise in using gears and ropes, belaying, crevasse passing etc for Glacier climbs any course suggestion you might have ? So that one can take the next step and climb higher mountains 4000m in Europe as usually it involves going through a Glacier almost everytime
@TraintoSummit3 ай бұрын
@@lakshminarayansharma7474 Glad you enjoyed it. Doing a course is by far the best thing to do, you just need to find one that's accessible to you, places like Chamonix have them but it can also be a bit pricey. Best advice I'd give you is once you do that course to have a trip or two planned and practice those skills. You can meet people during those courses if you're struggling to find a buddy and can plan a trip with them. If you do separate courses for rock climbing like 'learning how to lead' you learn skills like belaying but also a ton of other rope skills that you can then use on mountains. If you're struggling to know which one to begin with just pick a mountain you want to climb and see what skills you need to get that one done 🔥

Do you think it’s better than Breithorn to solo as a beginner? I would like to go before non winter season ends !
@YnseSchaap4 ай бұрын
Breithorn is much easier and more accessible, the trip takes 4 hours and begin and end are done by cable car 😁
@TraintoSummit4 ай бұрын
Thb I wouldn't recommend soloing either as a beginner. Even though they are beginner mountains there's a lot that can go wrong...
@YnseSchaap4 ай бұрын
@@TraintoSummit Agreed but you have to start somewhere, I had done a few smaller peaks in Austria with a guide, learned a lot. Only after that I decided to do the Breithorn, failed twice, first time chickened out because of the weather, second time lightning storm😁
@Procoffeiev3 ай бұрын
Hopefully you got out in season, but I got back from Chamonix/ Saas Fee last week and it was already getting too wintery there to solo anything serious.

was there a crevase risk to be roped up?
@TraintoSummit4 ай бұрын
There wasn't. We were roped as a precaution because neither of us have been there before (and it has a glacier)

What time do you suggest waking up from the Tracuit to summit? And how long do you think the descent would be to Zinal?
@TraintoSummit4 ай бұрын
@@VietNguyen-ce6el 4:30/5AM. The hut warden will tell you the night before. We had an earlier start because we had to pack the tent.I think we arrived back in Zinal in the afternoon, around 2-3PM maybe

How does this compare to the Gran Paradiso?
@TraintoSummit4 ай бұрын
It's completely different. Bishorn isn't technical at all and there was just one visable crevasse the whole way. From memory the glacier on Gran Paradiso is filled with big crevasses, it's also changing a lot year to year and is difficult to navigate (at least from Rifugio Chabod where I climbed it from). Gran Paradiso also has that airy section at the end which is super exposed and you can't afford a slip. Both great peaks though!
