If Sugou's plan's a bit confusing there's a character concept in role playing games called the Diplomancer. It's built around high charisma and maximizing persuade, bluff, intimidate etc. type skills. The basic idea is you do by min-maxing your persuasion-related stats/skills what actual mind-controlling wizards need magic to do only you probably do it better.

mind control magic can be countered/dispelled, or just time out, and breeds resentment at what is basically unwilling enslavement. turning the person further against you than they were to begin with. but charisma convinces the person, with their own thoughts, to side with you. meaning at the worst they blame themself for falling for it, and at the best theres no force on earth besides a BETTER charisma build that can turn them away.

I didn't like the original SAO because the premise had so much potential but ended up being a generic love story, with all the interesting characters being pushed away, and then ended prematurely on floor 75 in the dumbest way (almost like the author wanted to just end it). But the abridge makes it a lot more fun in the most clever ways! Also, Suguha finds out earlier in the abridge then in the actual show, it caught everyone off guard.

yeah I feel cheated out of 25 floors of SAO content, though to be fair we would probably only see like 3 to 5 floors animated.

It actually had to be rushed. The original story was written for a competition for closed stories, so he had to end it in a single rushed volume. The original LN has even less content than the anime, some stuff like Yui was added in later volumes.

i wouldnt say he lost the use. it could have been fixed, he was in a hospital. we'll have to wait for a clarification in the future i suppose, though i hope for asuna's sake the doctors got it fixed. that or she wakes up and doesnt notice her catheter either and both end up with irreparable damage.

Yeah she falls in love with Kirito in the original, but in the abridged they are thankfully changing that weird love story to something else and also more fitting with Kirito and Suguhas background.

Fun fact about Recon: when the episode first released, some fans proposed a theory/joke that the dead SAO kid Recon got the nerve gear from was Sachi. Unfortunately, SWE noted that he explicitly mentioned son but said that if they'd thought of that joke in advance, they would've absolutely switched that line to be daughter.

You know, watching your reaction to season two of SAO Abridged has opened my eyes a little. I'm going to admit I haven't watched season two as much as I have season one. Noticing this, I just recently rewatched all of season two my own yesterday. I think season two just might be better than season one. Hear me out: Remember when I told you there was a cast shakeup after Episode 3? That was because Episode 3 wasn't well received (it's admittedly the weakest episode, if not also the most important). There was a minor tug-o-war over the direction of the show and the guy that voices Kirito won out. Since then, SAO Abridged has had single showrunner since then and it's paying off dividends. Also, Episode 15 and 16 is a two parter. I was blown away when I realized this. It is so amazingly subtle, I am not shocked I didn't notice the first time.

13:20 I don't know if someone else mentioned this but it's implied Recon got his Nervegear off of Sachi after she died... 😂 That's why it glitches out for him too. It's been at least 6 or 7 years since I watched the original abridged video with Sachi but I think I remember her saying her parents hated her irl and that further lines up with Recon's explanation of how he got the Nervegear...

They do very much intend to go as far as they can with making this. They said they look forward to doing the actual season 2 (Gun Gale), and they seem to be setting up for even further since Johnny Black who was one of the Laughing Coffin guys in abridged ep 6 is a guy from Ordinal Scale movie which was even later than Gun Gale.

Do you know what the most f'd up part about Sugo is. His English VA is the same as Nastu Dragneel from Fairy, and Ling from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. And Asuna's English VA is Lucy Heartfilia who is also from Fairy Tail. I guess this is why the Dragon Slayer never made it with the Celestial wizard. If you know what I mean.

They're Japanese and live in Japan, traditions are very different there compared to here which is why age of consent is much younger and there is a reason why incest is common in anime taking place in Japan, Black Butler or specifically early season(s) takes place in England so no incest.
