Just some clarity and i haven't seen the other videos but moving does NOT use your action for the turn. It's a separate ability independent from the list of actions you can pick in a characters turn.

Hey! Thanks for watching and the feedback. Always appreciate good catches. I’d have to look into that to confirm as it’s been a bit. Cheers!

@@RollingSolo Movement is not an action. You get Movement, Combat and an Action. You can use an action to Dash and move an additional space but if movement was an action it would basically make all other actions pointless since you move almost every turn.

I've found your vids to not only be a great help but almost a necessity for me. Playing along as you start a new playthrough of a game I have helps immensely in understanding rules and remembering all the little things to keep track of. I try to play every game I can solo to learn rules before attempting to bring someone else in that's clueless to the game...then I'm able to just explain a few basic things about the game and just go into more detail on other things when they come up in game. So your vids help a great deal in explaining some of the more convoluted rules in these games haha.

Both Galaxy Defenders and this game are awesome! There is a learning curve to both but once you get pass that, you get a great gaming experience. Look forward to your playthrough.

+Chris Rennie Ah, I'm very interested in Galaxy Defenders! I don't have that one yet but I'd be all for it from what I've seen. Plus the KS edition of S&S has tie in's to GD. See you in the playthrough Chris!

Great introduction to the game but I’m curious about your interpretation of the shadow token rules (20:20). When the hero opens the door, if a line of sight can be drawn diagonally between the X where the hero stands and the X where the shadow token is, surely it is resolved then - not when the hero moves to the adjacent space?
@RollingSolo7 жыл бұрын
+TitchmarshVillage Hey Titch! I’d like of sight can be drawn from the sight markers the shadow marker must be resolved. Hope this helps :)

In the case of my original question, I now understand that there is a small piece of wall (black edge) obstructing the diagonal line of sight that I was referring to. Thanks anyway.
@RollingSolo7 жыл бұрын
+TitchmarshVillage Ah yes! The game designers were a bit tricky with this as they allowed for black walls to obstruct corners or even jut out a bit more than normal. Something to keep an eye on for sure. Cheers!

I have just recently bought alot for this game. I am waiting on it to come in.They were sold out of Vastaryous Lair. I got Darkness Falls and Arcane Portal. Do you have to play Vastaryous Lair first for story flow?
@RollingSolo4 жыл бұрын
Hey Julie! Great choice. If you have the base game that’s where you should start I believe if memory serves. I forget if one of them is a prologue off the top of my head.

Vastaryous Lair is the last of the expansions. Play is base game. Act 1:Quests 1-7 Arcane Portal: Act 1: Quests 8-11 Darkness Falls: Act2: Quests 1-7 Vastaryous Lair: Act2: Quests 8-11

Hi, I'm super excited to your play through but your explaining how Actions works is quite wrong imho. Combat and Movement are not Actions per se, but rather Activities. So you could perform your Movement or Combat and of top to that also one Action, like opening closed doors or chest, Focusing Attack etc.Boris
@RollingSolo7 жыл бұрын
+Boris Turk Hey Boris! Glad to hear it! :) I can see what you mean. The rulebook calls them Movement/Combat Activity. So by calling them actions it could cause confusion. I will clear this up going forward, although to me it isn't intuitive terminology. Thanks for the feedback!

How is the learning curve compared to Descent? Also are the Encounters as rough as the ones in the D&D Adventure Games?
@RollingSolo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Leeroy! I'd say its a step up from Descent in terms of learning. But as with any game, once you know the order of operations and symbols you roll along at a good clip. Especially playing solo! I personally believe it's a better game than Descent (imo), just doesn't have as much content yet. In terms of your second question it depends, some are tougher than others. Cheers!
@LeeroyPorkins6 жыл бұрын
Rolling Solo Thanks. I tried Descent with the App and it was way too punishing for my taste, while the D&D Adventure Games are nice their Encounter cards/mediocre Heroes are a bit of a downer, especially now that you have to play campaign for the newer games. Massive Darkness is currently my favorite Co-op/Solo Dungeon Crawl.

Just played that with my nephew the other day. We ripped through Quest 1-3 in one night. Looking forward to continuing it with him. He's younger and enjoys dungeon crawlers a lot!
@LeeroyPorkins6 жыл бұрын
Rolling Solo An issue I forgot to mention about the D&D Adventure Games is that I don't like the threat of being punished for not moving fast and then being punished anyway. I'll still play them and use them as an intro crawl.

That's a great point Leeroy. I'm with you on that! How much of MD did you pickup?

Does solo needs to have 3 characters in play?

Good question. I believe three was best. I forget off hand if that was in the rulebook though or I just decided at the time.
