Great demonstration. Thank you! Do you prefer to rig your Mahi belly bait fresh, vacuum and freeze it or freeze the mahi belly, rig the bait right before the swordfish fishing trip?

The honest answer is that by the time I get back from fishing and clean the fish and the boat I’m exhausted. I separate them and vacuum seal them and then I rig it and freeze them again. I have never had an issue with it but I would imagine the baits will stay fresher if you don’t thaw them out and refreeze them but you won’t have any issues freezing them and rigging them when you are going to fish or a day when you have time to rig a few baits and vacuum seal them. It is very important that you do vacuum seal them when you catch them and when you rig them. That will make a big difference versus not vacuum sealing them.

Does removing the pec fins make it easier to swim right? I cut fins and tails off baits I rig, but there any advantage to leaving them on?

That is a good question. I have never cut them off before when I rig it. I would have to try both ways and see if it makes a difference. If anything taking them off might make it swim better. Will have to give that a try next time.
