If the paint doesn't stick to the mini (if it "goes away" like at 07:00 ) add just a very tiny drop of dish soap into the paint. The soap releases the tension surface of the model so the paint will stick...or just spray paint it.

A possible reason the paints aren't sticking is because a mold release agent is used to help get the parts out of the mold when they are made. So before painting always wash the parts with a little dishwashing liquid. The sprues full of parts can be placed in a pan or bowl of soapy water. Carefully rub the pieces with your fingers. Rinse, then air dry on paper towels or blow dry.
@davedogge22804 жыл бұрын
With those limited paints and brushes you can probably just scrape over the line for "battle ready" painted minis suitable for a proper tournament and this video shows ya how. Interesting how they are plugging Agrax Earthshade instead of the traditional Nuln Oil in these starter sets, in ancient times they sometimes recommended Drakenhof Nightshade for the Ultramarine wash. (I personally just use really thinned down vallejo surface primer black for my Nuln Oil wash, it just has a higher pigment concentration for 'deeper' shadows. that's my 1 pence's worth.
@EternalQuestion4 жыл бұрын
To be honest I think the main reason they give you agrax is because you get nuln in the necron set, and they wanted the paint sets to compliment eachother. Nuln is definitely better for shading macragge blue though. To be fair though, you can just thin down the abaddon black and use it to recess shade with reasonable results. The other good thing about this set is that can use the corax white to mix a highlight colour for the blue armour or the black gun casing. You could definitely almost paint a 'parade ready' ultramarine with this set. Having both black and white gives you a lot of potential to mix shade or highlight colours and build up layers. The main problems are that there is no red to paint the eye lenses, no silver for the gun parts, and no way to highlight the gold. However you could buy mephiston red and stormhost silver and you'd be good to go.
@davedogge22804 жыл бұрын
@@EternalQuestion Corax is a bit dodgy though, how many times have I opened a new bottle and there's a slimy solid ball in the middle and I've had to stab at it to break it upand then had to add Vallejo Matt Medium to it. The Agrax Earthshade is great for necrons which I like to have a dirty look about them as they've been underground in a slumber for thousands of years. Would have been nice to include a pot of Calgar Blue for edge highlighting though on the ultramarines.
@EternalQuestion4 жыл бұрын
@@davedogge2280 Lol, that has definitely happened to me as well. Usually it's still usable, but for sure Corax is not a good paint. The spray is even worse. Calgar blue would be nice, but it's a beginner paint set, so I guess they are not expecting many people to be edge highlighting with it. For me the silver is the biggest omission. The model doesn't even look finished without the silver parts painted on the gun.

You can base it with that paint. General rule is to try wash with dishwashing liquid before cutting/painting as there may be oil from the molding process on it. Also, you skin have oil on it. Both with cause that affect with any acrylic . Good wash solves this

The head of the Gold marine should look better if position more towards the shoulder pad, almost like looking over the shoulder pad. The blue marine looking toward the hand holding the gun. the white Marine is good or better. When holding weapons the body reacts in certain way, otherwise is hard to operate the weapon, gun rifle, grenade etc... .A good way the see this is to goggle pictures of soldier in combat and you will notice that there is a consistent way in witch soldiers hold weapons while moving or even in static position...in our hobby this makes the model more natural and realistic, especially if the painting in the model is as good as your work.....thank you for the video

I wonder if yourself or any of the people who watch your vids could advise me plz? From what I have researched so far basic Acrylic paint is not ideal for hard plastic and usually paints well on absorbent surfaces like wood or parchment, therefore a primer or undercoat is needed to prep the models beforehand, would it not be simpler and cheaper to use paints meant for plastic??, any thoughts on this would be appreciated plz, Regards, Carl.

You could fix that brush by dipping it (and only dipping the bristles, not the ferrule) in very hot water with a bit of dish soap in it. After doing that you reshape the bristles with a bitnr hair conditioner (or brush soap if you happen to have some). Not that the starter brush is any good to start with...
