May 20, 1979 - Dennis Johnson's 1979 NBA Finals MVP run got off to a melancholy start. Despite a 23-point effort, it was his foul with no time left on the clock that ultimately decided the outcome to Game 1. It'd be the last time he faltered in the series. Johnson averaged 22.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.2 blocks over five games, leading the Seattle SuperSonics to their first and only NBA championship.
