to be honest i couldn’t even pay attention to the rest of the video after watching macky descend the slippery snotch effortlessly… on his xcountry bike. ….
@keirfarnum68113 ай бұрын
He’s pretty damn good! If I could bring back my 21 year old body to ride on a modern bike, I would love to compete against him.
@SergejGrabun8 ай бұрын
I like that you guys include your prep routing before the race. What you eat/drink, what you pay attention to and etc. When I look at your tires and the fact you run on a loose sand/gravel type of tracks - I always realise how much trust you put in that rubber. The knobs are tiny, not sure how they grip :D Grats with results, it's super cool when training is felt on the race day.

The snotch is no joke. Kudos to anyone who is willing to do it! I had half a mind to attempt it but we still had a long ride to go so we opted to go the safe route.

Wtf🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯, you rode the snotch on an downcountry bike, with those tires, in those conditions. Mindblowing for this descent loving Canadian.

you guys are really well prepared this year, also great 4k/60fps video quality, nice editing, thanks for including information in metric system for us European folks... and I see retired XCO World Cup racer Katerina Nash in the results, that's good benchmark to have.

Thank you for the Fanttik promo. I have been searching Amazon for months for a decent one, and crappy non bike battery pumps keep coming up on my search. I have bought 2 of them which I returned because they were crap. This was an insta buy for me, and the $10 coupon reduction was icing on the cake. Thanks Syd and Macky!

13:30 Going up Sand Flats Road is HEINOUS! Way steeper than the video suggests. I turn 72 in August and the last time I climbed this was the last time I'll climb it (70 at the time). At least the climb up from Burro is interesting. On a separate note, I understand the use of water bottles for racing. I think a lumbar pack (or bigger) is better at maintaining hydration. I need you two to invent a bottle with a built in straw so that I don't have to tilt my head back so much to drink. Win-win. You get rich, and we get a decent water bottle!

BTW, it's always good to go back to early S&M to watch Macky kill the climb on Amasa Back! Very impressive. Cleaning the Snotch under any conditions is impressive, but that climb is WILD!

Congrats you two on great Stage 1 days! Always great to connect in person, but fun to watch this weeks after as well. We must have had a slight tailwind going up that climb as I, too felt great and somehow went faster than my previous best PR - 10 years ago during the 1st Moab Rocks! So glad we got to race this stage this year as it's such a classic. Cheers!

always thought that minions or asagai would be the grippiest on slick rock but from looking at your tires, it would be interesting to try a smaller less agressive tread. the climb to to top of porcupine is for real, the road up there would just awesome on the road bike

Wish y'all could get on some Yeti ASR's or Pivot Mach 4's. Nothing against ARI and I understand that sponsorships pay the bills, but those bikes have got to be quicker and lighter than the Signal Peak's for that extra edge. Love the channel and vids either way!

Would it be possible to add speed to the overlay, at least occasionally? Great video as always!
@jamesbailey18288 күн бұрын
What's the best bike for this race? Since it's a race, I have an Epic 100/100 I'm considering for pure speed, or a Rascal 130 (Rear) 140 (Front) to tackle the techy stuff. What would be best for all three days?. That was nuts riding the snotch! Great job.
@sydandmacky8 күн бұрын
We ran the Ari Signal Peak which is right between your two bikes at 120/115mm. Depends on what your goal is. If it's trying to win, the lighter, smaller bike is probably the better choice. If the goal is to enjoy it and maybe not be quite as competitive, I'd go with the 140/130 bike. That's the size we raced when we did it the first time in 2019 and it was a blast!

Up front I’m a roadie just getting into mnt biking and love your videos. On the road sections do mnt bikers not draft? On the road that’s everything so I get confused by the willingness to ride side by side. Could you shed some light on that for me?
@sydandmacky5 ай бұрын
Generally we will draft if the speeds are high enough for it to make a difference. A lot of this climb was too steep/slow for drafting to help

Can't wait for e2 BUT Ouch Macky! My best friend also crashed last weekend at a BMX race, he broke 5 ribs and one of them punctured his lung which lead to air developing around his heart. He's still in the hospital...but that kind of brings me to a question about pro racers. Do you have health insurance? from Medicade or Private?
@sydandmacky8 ай бұрын
We have both health insurance from the NM health insurance marketplace and additional accident insurance.

HI I wanted to purchase one of the Fantik compressors, I followed the link and it took me KZbin and Syd explaining your bike preparation procedures. She told me to go to Amazon and don't forget to add THE $10 COUPON. A. I NEVER saw that 'box' neither on the FANTIK website or on Amazon for the Fantik X9 compressor. B. I just gave up. I wanted to buy one based on your recommendations. I am very 'old' and maybe I got the instructions all wrong/or confused? I tried.

i would love to know what Syd's BPMs are....she sounds like she gets it up there? and its great that Macky compares races to the past BUT.....position is not a great indicator. time is. in other words, getting to the top in P2 doesnt really indicate improvement when compared to others: perhaps Quinton has slowed? essentially, as we all know, comparing yourself to others is never a strong indicator of your progress. :)
