I am an Aussie with over 20 years of study in Australian History and I just have to let the birthday boy know, your knowledge and presentation of Sydney's history is literally world class, almost perfect. As an Australian I am so happy to see others willing to immerse themselves in and share in our story. Thank you so very much ( If you are ever headed back please LMK I would be honoured to shout ya a schooner ). Oh just FYI Aborigine is a bit of a swear word here ( call em first nations peoples cause there are a lot of bad connotations with the term Aborigine , it's kinda like dropping the n word ).

@@chrispeterson1247 Could you explain why you feel this way?
@chrispeterson12472 жыл бұрын
@@gracedagostino5231 Cost of living. Freedom. Not being controlled by the government at every turn. Put it this way….you can’t build a garden shed….on your own property….without local council approval and fees of course….if you say hang on…I own this property, I worked hard to own it, it belongs to me im gonna build a shed…..they will come to your house and give you 14 days to remove it. Also did you see how covid was handled in Sydney?? You were only allowed up to 5 km from your home for valid reasons (And the government will decide what those valid reasons are). The police have the ability to scan your license plate without even pulling you over. My parents were looking at property three hours from their house, a patrol car passed them, spun around and lit them up. After a long drawn out conversation they showed proof that they had an appointment to look at a property that day…the police “let them go” otherwise it would have been a $5000 fine……each. Yeah I’ll stay here in Tennessee…..thanks! There are good spots in Australia far away from the woke leftist communism of Sydney and Melbourne, but hey if you like California and NYC you’ll probably fit right in!
@gracedagostino52312 жыл бұрын
@@chrispeterson1247 You bring up some excellent points. Born in Canada but I’ve lived most of my life in Southern California, and the only thing I would miss about this place is the great warm sunny weather. I love the lush greenery of Tennessee, but not the winter. So I had thought Australia is the only other place with California type weather, and speaks English. Sounds like from what you are saying, I wouldn’t be any happier.
@chrispeterson12472 жыл бұрын
@@gracedagostino5231 The northern part of the state has better weather and it’s a much better life style. The biggest problem with Australia is that there are 2 major cities maybe 3 that have 90% of the jobs you basically have to live there…..where I grew up it’s nothing….it’s even standard to commute 3 to 31/2 hours round trip into the city for work everyday. Unless you are a multi millionaire you are not going to be living within an hr of the office that’s for sure. I’d compare Sydney more closely to Vancouver BC…..a place Iv also have lived in for 2 years and equally as horrible as Sydney

My ancestor came to Australia as a convict trying to steal someone’s home from what I can see I the records. My grandparents generation told us that we weren’t convicts and we came in the run from the police but never got caught. When they all died we discovered the convict records so not sure if they were actively covering it up or actually believed the story. (We hung out at supanova for a bit. Hi!)

OMG you're here in Oz! Welcome and happy birthday ☺️ Inner Sydney is great - though I suspect that Melbourne, with our creative scene, street art etc, would be more your style than flashy ol' Sydney Town 😎😎 BTW, Aboriginal ppl (they prefer you not to say Aborigines) suffered pretty much as soon as white ppl arrived, because they pushed them out of their fishing spots and they were forced to move on to find food. Tensions gradually escalated from there. The history of our Indigenous ppl since white colonisation is very, very sad. And as for your & Lucie's imitations of our accent ... ummm ... dude, we're not Cockney Brits 😂 Try relaxing a bit and moving your lips a less when you speak. Hope you come back some day and see more of Australia than just Sydney. It's a huge continent with everything from urban landscapes to rainforests to beaches and snow fields.
