If you like the vids, please consider joining the Patreon (@tomdnyc). Since I don't do endorsements, it's the main way to support what I'm doing. There are extras on there, including a companion podcast, ad-free versions, behind the scenes, and recommendations. Either way, thanks for watching.

Thank you for not doing endorsements. I found your channel while researching my upcoming trip to New York. There are a couple of other channels I watched a few videos on, but yours stood apart partly because you don't do endorsements. On one channel, the KZbinr was talking about places to stay in NYC and the bulk of the video was about AirBnB. At the end of that segment, the person was like, 'use this code for $40 off' and I was upset with myself for essentially watching a 5 minute ad haha

Once in NYC, my wife and I hit the NYC museum, and get to learn about the town creation. The museum was utterly empty though, which is bummer. Thank you for bringing the topic up. Cheers mate

I've heard the stories about how we tried to trade with the natives instead of killing them off or chasing them away. I'd like to know way more on this.

Tom seemed happy talking to someone, Shorto, who can read and write. 9:27 is NYC under the municipal charter of 1653? Does that mean the defunct Dutch West India Company still owns the city? Perhaps a follow up video on Nicholas Bayard or, families of the street names below Canal Street, i.e. Lispenard (da Spaniard) to the Anti-Rent War in NYC. Since Shorto is on the Netherlands Project do comtempory Netherlanders even know their history of the New Netherlands colony, even the New Amsterdam settlement or, it is looked down on as are the Afrikaners by the Dutch as are the Dutch by the British? Why do Dutchies resent their language being anglicized, i.e. phonetically hearing stoep for stoop meaning trap not stairs? Is this all Dutch logic? Questions, questions. Tom you're a "defunct" :) lawyer what the heck is a charter? A contract? Ed-u-mac-kay us. Perhaps, instead of seltzer a coffee shop. Good video Tom, Russell, *thanks* , enjoyed it
