Financial Education Sydney should break the 400m hurdles world record. But the world records for 400m and 200m? Very unlikely. Those records were set in the 1980's when most of the top women sprinters were downing performance enhancing drugs like a kid downs candy on Halloween.

WRs as Dan said are 21.34 and 47.60. Seems like a massive long shot, but if she runs those times, she'd certainly be able to run close to FloJos 100m record, and then perhaps Kendra Harrison's record in the 100m hurdles just based off that raw speed. I imagine she can run in the mid 48s, and maybe match Allison Felix's 21.6 in the 200. I think she might be able to eventually go sub 50 in the 400 hurdles though...

I don't think she will sniff the world record in the open 400m and certainly not the open 200m. Her strength is in her hurdle finish and being able to maintain strides. She is more Edwin Moses than a pure sprinter.

Furthermore I saw what I believe were likely doped up runners: Marita Koch, East Germany, run 47.6 seconds, faster than many men can run today. I don't believe Jarmila Kratochilova 800 meters, 1:53.28 seconds or Flo Jo's times 10.49 seconds 100 meters, 21.34 seconds 200 meters either. Flo Jo's times would knock off many buff young high school runners today.

I've been watching her races since 2015. The amount of improvement over the 400 meter Hurdles from her senior year to now is HUGE. She's still choppy but she's NOT as choppy as she use to be. I'm bet she will be the 400 meter Hurdles Olympic champion 2020.

I've been saving as many of this babe's videos as possible. I want to look back years later and see her progression over time. Sydney is a once- in- a generation athlete. It's a privilege to watch her run. I hope she stays level-headed because she will most likely be the golden girl of track and field. christansdad - What you wrote is completely backwards. 90% of top high school sprinters from the United States run at least one year in college. It's actually very rare for a high school sprinter to skip college completely. All these sprinters in the 100m - 400m went to college and then had impressive pro careers - Carl Lewis, Leroy Burrell, Maurice Green, Justin Gatlin, Michael Johnson, Jeremy Wariner, LaShawn Merritt, Kerron Clement, Angelo Taylor, Christian Coleman, Gwen Torrence, Gail Devers, Tori Bowie, Carmelita Jeter, Sanya Richards-Ross, to name a few.

You've listed a grand total of TWO (including one who hasn't won anything significant as a pro). Who in the United States besides Alyson Felix hasn't run in college but was dominant at the pro level? Financial Ed says she can break the 200/400 World Records. I don't think she will ever run under 47.60 or 21.3, (although her rate of progression keeps surprising me) but the 400mH record is going to be hers before long ... yes, maybe this year but certainly before long unless something happens to her. She has taken 1.8 seconds of her 400m PB from last year and now has taken over 1.0 sec. off her 400mH PB. If she takes 1.8 sec. off last year's 400mH PB then she runs 51.9!. The WR is only 0.4 seconds away now. What a perfect race she ran. Soon she will be running 14 strides for part of the race and 15 at the end .. .then it's 51.9!! I can't believe I'm saying that ... a woman running under 52.00 for 400mH. She is amazing.

You obviously know your hurdling! At 2022 Worlds she ran 14 strides to the 7th hurdle, and 15 after that. I don't think anyone else can even do this pattern - Muhammad uses 14 to just the 2nd and 3rd hurdles, but I don't know of any others...

Because it's the Championships. Sorry when it comes to the Championships it's about the team. She could have easily taken the 2 or the 4 and cake walked the 400 hurdles. But I guess the coach wasn't thinking win the Championship. Just my thoughts. btw 52.75 would have got her 5th in the 400 flat lol. I 'm not sure but are the NCAA Outdoor Champs based on times from Div. Champs or OD track season? If it is based on champs then Kentucky just limited her to the 400h. If it's based on the outdoor season then I digress and will assume the coach ditched the division and saved them for the NCAA's and in that case give him a raise...if it works lol.

NCAA Champs are based on the time AND place; only the top 16 in each event are invited. She clearly is in the top 16 in the 200/400/400H. She's been running the 200/400 combo from the indoor season, so she's race sharp for those, but this was only her 3rd hurdle race for the season. Also, if she recall, she stated from last year, she had NO intentions on running the 400H at all her freshman year. But since her times in all her events have been off the charts, I guess they wanted to go get the 400H record sooner than they expected.

Dajo Sco Sydney wasn't supposed to run the 400m hurdles at all this year, but Sydney recently told her coach that she wanted the college record in the 400m hurdles before she goes pro. So he let her not run 2 races at the SEC Championships in order to focus on just breaking the 400m hurdles record. And now that she has the record, I expect her to go pro this summer. And of course, the coach expects Sydney to keep him as her coach when she is a pro.
