Netflix should be making their Sprint documentary about 400m hurdles, not the current 100m/200m. Get Karsten Warholm, Rai Benjamin, Alison dos Santos, Dalilah Muhammad, Sydney McLaughlin, and Femke Bol together and make the doc. Multiple world records among that group and they could make it really good.

I think you are missing the point. Greatness is about accomplishment at the world stages. The main difference is that Femke runs indoors, and Sydney doesn't. Two of the most successful sprinters ever (Usain Bolt and SHELLY-ANN FRASER-PRYCE) did not race that much and rarely indoors. Why do you think that is? You do not become dominant due to talent only but because of the heavy workout they undergo, which requires a longer recovery and a proper race schedule. It's not about the money or fame for Sydney but about accomplishment. Femke seems to be progressing at the same rate as Sydney, who is one year ahead of her. Femke is a tough competitor, and I enjoy watching her race. Her time will come, but the reality is that she has never beaten Sydney in any race. While they are the only ones that can beat each other right now, the gap is still there. Just look: - Femke personal best (100 m: 11.47s, 200 m: 22.88s, 400 m: 49.44s / 49.17s, 400 mH: 51.45s) - Sydney personal best (100 m: 11.07s, 100 mH: 12.65s, 200 m: 22.07s, 400 m: 48.74 s, 400 mH: 50.68s) With these times, Sydney could be a potential 200-meter medalist, and Paulino won the 400-meter race last year in 48.76 seconds. I don't know what more to say if you do not consider Sydney a good sprinter with these performances! You should show more respect to Sydney because what she accomplished goes way beyond the sport!

you missed his whole point. what if the olimpics is cancelled this year for any reason. the effect would be similiar to what syd seems to be doing. people like noah are great for the sport, bol is great for the sport . they work and take the risk. i think it would be fantastic for track if some unknown beat her and broke her record at the olimpics.

@jkf9167 Ай бұрын
@@victorhopper6774 it'd also be nearly impossible. The 400 hurdles is one of the most stratified events, and always has been - otherwise Edwin Moses couldn't have won 100 races in a row. The only person who has any chance to beat her is Femke Bol, and everyone is trying to quantify whether that's a really significant chance. I think she does, but many knowledgeable minds say no.

I really liked this video. In my opinion, she is missing out on a ton of money by racing so little. In fact, I would venture to say if she was to attempt a double in Paris (200 and the 400 hurdles) this would be an epic TV/media opportunity and the Brinks truck would be backing up at her door in the form of documentary, endorsements etc. Strike while the iron is hot - she won't be this fast forever

It's completely different. It's trying to do a really specific activity the same every time. In a basketball game, you couldn't tell if Luka, or even Shai would run a 100m 1/10 of a second slower than usual. You'd probably notice when he was at least a second slow, which for a sprinter would be off the team and out of the sport.

@@kingdomgateent I'm not saying they're not; I'm just saying that track and field events are more specialized than basketball and require a higher level of fitness for that one thing. It's as if the only thing that determined who won and who lost a basketball game was determined by 1/2" of vertical leap. A basketball player can lose 1/2" of vertical leap and compensate somewhere else. Wins and losses in track and field are calculated by the ability to do specific motions with a very small margin of error. For example Wayde Van Niekerk broke the World Record by running 43.03 in the 400m in the 2016 Olympics. He was injured during the 2017 season. He runs the 400 about a second slower than he did before the injury, and he hasn't won an championship medal since. That makes him still world-class, but not among the very top contenders, although fans like me hold out hope. If Wayde were playing basketball, he'd be compensating for that with team play, shot selection and changing up certain moves. He'd be a mid-career player whose dunks sometimes aren't as highlight-worthy as they were when he was a rookie, but whose game is better.
