Absolutely a spot on review!!! Bout time we see some honesty! Awafi at Revesby smashes a lot of the chicken places pound for pound! El Jannah does have the best spice on the chicken!! Frangos is the more moist… Judging by the WOW’s Awafi was the clear winner. Bro any chance you can do a Gyros one as well. There’s a hectic one that just opened in Sans Souci called Souvlaki George!! It's the 90's, Thursday afternoon, you've just finished school.... you're off to the old Chucky's in Guildford or El-Jannah Granville. Spanian is right, you can tell it's become franchised by how it's product changed....but it's still good. The Portuguese Chicken shops need to push the Pirri-pirri sauce! That chilli/lemon/herb/oil combo just pairs with chicken too well! OG Oportos used to have it as a side.

I’ve done this about 5x and been to about 50 chicken stores, I still think Frangos is my favourite which I’ve gone back to. El Jannah is now more available in the inner west with their Newtown store. I’ll have to go back to Awafi.

Quarter chicken and chips with gravy in Campsie on Beamish Street (Bottom end) - $3.50 when I was at school in the 80's. Used to look forward to it every Wednesday sport day. Still cant find better anywhere. Dulwich Hill Charcoal Chicken comes close. Still the same owners I believe.

I grew up in Bankstown, kind of fun but also scary as shit. Seeing all these places brings back funny memories. Ej Jannah Kogarah was my staple when I was in St George Hospital, Awafi isn't too far away from The Mill (AKA The Viking Tavern) where the Milperra Massacre happened. I haven't been to the Newtown or Petersham restaurants but their locations made me giggle as there are drug dealer locations that appear in the background... this video made me hungry for chicken and other things. I love Sydney.

yeah - at Granville El Jannah a couple times recently I agree the chicken is dry - mebbe it's a plan to get you to buy drinks as well not been to Awafi but thought about it a couple times driving past - if you reckon the garlic and tabouli is the go I might hafta go there long time since I been to Frango's Petersham but if you reckon the chips with chili/mayo and moistest chicken for $12 ... I hear that Awafi owners co-owned/worked with El Jannah in Granville (Gville) at the start but due to differences split off to make their own store just down the street, for me I can't tell the difference but El Jannah is expanding much faster and I love to see it. We need more Aussie fast food chains. Frango's is good but they give a million chips and too much sauce, but lots of potential. Never heard of Clems?

Have Always gone to Awafi at Belmore theirs has always been good ,Awafi garlic sauce is the best and add in the chilli sauce , El Jannah is now franchised and packaged up ,chicken is over done most the time and not quit as good as Awafi but still nice , Francgo’s we always use to get the chicken burgers which were cracker , Clems was good to get a variety for dinner of different things , not many places like it around

El Jannah went downhill fast since they’ve gone the mass produced McDonalds style kind take away a few years ago. They bumped their prices up massively too. Chargrill Charlie’s is the winner winner chicken dinner for best CC&C’s in Sydney.

El Jannah still has the best chicken (Hawa Granville very close though) but have dropped the ball a bit on the garlic sauce. Awafi I haven't had in a very long time so can't comment. La Mono in Merrylands have the best Shish (skewer) plate Frangos is good for the chicken burger but I rate Portico's in Rydalmere more.

The best way to judge the chicken, is to just eat the chicken on it's own... It really comes down to timing, as to how dry the chicken will be, so don't expect the chicken to be exactly the same, every time you go... Some days it will be dry, and other days it will be perfect... Basically for best value, I find that a whole stuffed chicken from Coles for $11 is my choice... They also sell the pickles and bread, if you want to make kebabs and have yourself a decent feed for around $20
