Good to see that I’m not missing much or the opening of the new entrance as I’ve been using the truck to get to work. Hoping to see it in person in three weeks time

Thanks again, Phil. Thanks for the update on the Hat building demolition. You just beat me as I am coming into Central for my own look and not-so-expertised videoing and stuff next week with my carer. What a great time to get around before the crowds. Well done!

Thanks Phil. My own view re rhe dropping of jargon "terminates" and especially the exclusive "alight" is that it's long overdue. Catching trains the 1960s I used to chuckle when when I imagined someone setting fire to the train upon hearing the announcement.

I reckon Phil! Now approaching Bowen Hills station, if this is your station prepare to disembark! It gets a bit much every 2-3 mins at each Qld station. And that our doors only open if you press the button so as to keep the air con cool inside the trains. They have to constantly repeat that the buttons are in the middle of the doors like we can’t hear it lol Repeat repeat repeat!

12:30 i like these new DVA announcements how they now say all of the stations if it is going through 3 minor stations instead of saying “then all stations to” only skipping 3 stations which it would just be faster tos any the actual stations im glad they now realize that now.

This is an excellent video Phil. I think they are changing the wording to cater for non English speaking visitors and residents. Those escalator warning signs are so ugly and a dangerous trip hazard in my opinion. Thanks for the update Phil 😀

Cheers mate! 😊 I agree! Also yes the warning signs are a bit of an eyesore. Maybe there could be some less cluttered way to warn people
@aussiejohn5835

@sydneytrainsvlogs Maybe they could sticker the floor directly before the escalators, that's enough to cover them legally. Doesn't matter if people read them as long as it is there for them to read.

Hi Phil, thanks for another excellent video.I am guessing platforms 8 to 14 are for country and inter-city trains, as they all seem to terminate and not continue towards the city.i think we still use "terminates" and "alight" on our trains here, though that could change as time passes. Just curious, where do you buy your coffee there at Central? if I ever get up to Sydney again, I might look the place up. Anyway, take care. Rob, in Melbourne Australia.

I think that replacing "alight" with "get off" is probably a good idea as there are probably a lot of people, particularly tourists and immigrants, who have never heard of "alight" unless perhaps something is on fire 😂. However replacing "terminates" with "ends" sounds a bit ambiguous to me and I think it is because the ends of a train are also the first and last carriages, so "ends" refers as much to the train as the service although the context should make it clear what is meant most of the time. The better word is "terminates" because it is clear that it is really referring to the service and everyone should know the word "terminates" so I think this could have been retained.

I notice that many of your reports about Central station commence at the Chalmers Street entrance. This is , by comparison, the”back door” of what is a grand station. Consequently I feel you are not presenting the facility in its best light especially to those overseas or interstate.
@aussiejohn5835

The focus on the upgrade is primarily the new Metro facility at Central and the associated upgrade that accompanied this. Phil has been covering this since construction began which included Central Station prior to the commencement of the project. Please refer to his library and you will have more than enough information about Central Station.

@@sydneyroosters7181 only problem in Melbourne is frequency, which is slowly being addressed. Other wise it's better overall, faster trains, single deck which has better disability access and makes for a better journey..Come to think of it, everything in Sydney is oh so slow!

@harrygoldun5779 LOL Melbourne has the slowest trams in the world. They share the roads with your cars and clog up the traffic. Melbourne is 50 years behind Sydney 🤣🤣 Sydney Double Decker > Melbourne Single Deck

@@sydneyroosters7181 oh please, have you seen how long it takes from Circular Quay to Juniors Kingsford by snail rail? 35 minutes for 8 kms. What a farce and the bloody tram doesn't share any roads with the traffic. Max speed for a few metres is an earth shattering 50 kms, havevto hold on tight as the announcement always spurts out. Mate, everything in Sydney is slow, except the buses.
