Sydney made a 33 minute video stating that women can’t write good Star Wars stories because according to her women can only write stories because they are low key feminists and that means they really don’t like Star Wars …. OK… And George Lucas sold this intellectual property YEARS ago and yet Disney STILL is bringing lore and expanded content into the stories and most of if not ALL of the male characters are Jedi and/or main characters alongside the ONE central female character. Yeah… ok. Thank you Sydney for telling us all what we’re supposed to watch because YOU said so.

Imagine there's a boy playing in a sandbox. And there's a girl next to it that's jumping rope. The girl turns to the boy and says, "hey can I play with you?" And the boy, excitedly responds, "you want to play in the sandbox with me? Sure!" So the girl gets in the sandbox and immediately starts jumping rope. The rope destroys the castle the boy was working on, flings sand and cat turds everywhere and prevents the boy from trying to make anything new. The boy, with tears in his eyes, asks, "why are you jumping rope in the sandbox?" And the girl responds, "WHY DO YOU HATE WOMEN?" That's pretty much everything in nerd culture the past few years

I'm so sick of those feminists claiming women action heroines are a recent thing. Old movies had plenty of women action heroines, one that comes to mind is the Annie Oakley series. She was portrayed as smart, she could shoot, and ride a horse. In my opinion the reason they don't like or acknowledge women heroine the old screen is because they don't fit the mould of modernity. They aren't struggling for viewers. Barbie (the brand more than the actual movie) damn near acted as a beacon for the bright pink girly sht my s/x never stopped loving in some way. People went crazy and were playing dressup. Women and girls haven't showed up for any of this sht. If he means the direction, I agree. As for female viewers, nope. It's the same for all nerdy things that feminists have colonised - computing, comics, and tabletop gaming to name but a few things. It's the same pattern: 1. Join male-dominated interest. Complain about not being accepted on account of being female, despite little evidence to support this. 2. Realise they don't actually like the thing so they begin demanding changes to make it something they can like, typically by making it a vehicle for feminism. 3. Weak men agree, changing the thing to the point where men and women who previously enjoyed it complain. 4. Dismiss objections as misogyny. 5. The thing diminishes as people leave it, leaving feminists to rule over the ashes. People who left move to another interest. 6. Feminists join the new interest and repeat the cycle anew.

As a woman and a Star Wars fan, I am disgusted by the agenda pushing everywhere I look. When the only thing a woman can say about her character is, "She's a powerful leader... she's a powerful leader!" That tells you how shallow it all really is. I watched one episode of the Acolyte and stopped halfway through episode two because of the awful writing, the boring story line, and the overall cringe at the agendas on display. I am all for having great female characters and leads, but they have to have substance. "Powerful leader!" is not substance. Don't even get me started on the blatant racism and sexism happening in Hollywood. I'm so sick of virtue signaling in my media. What annoys me the most is that traits are handled as personality. The "powerful leader" you refer to or the "independant strong woman" are these. They are represented and played out as a whole personality for a character. Completly ignoring that these are traits which are the result of several different aspects of a character but are neither shown nor explained. A "powerful leader" is not a trait you just have, it is the result of many factors that need to be shown. Hence the lack of substance you talked about. Ellen Ripley from (especially) Aliens is a great example for this. Competence, perseverance, confidence. Motherly instinct and the drive to protect and overcome fear to do so. All that is shown, all that makes her a leader in that situation. Not once she had to call herself that....

I find it funny how they think that simply repeating "strong powerful leader" over and over again means they don't need to actually show it... I seem to be one of very few beating this drum, but the OG fans must never allow ourselves to forget that Lucas himself lost his original vision when he started tinkering with his originals and made the prequels. losing the thread of good vs. evil in exchange for vague sociopolitical themes, yelling about democracy, and including the statement in Revenge of the Sith that Anakin "has been under a lot of stress." Twice. This dialogue would have had no place in the original trilogy, largely because Lucas DIDN'T WRITE or even DIRECT most of it. He is a man with some excellent concepts who, in the '80s, was smart enough to outsource the execution of those concepts to arguably-more-talented creators (as he would likely have done in '77 if he'd had any funding). He did ABSOLTELY bring that first film to life by sheer force of will and shepherded the next two to glorious completion, and he deserves huge accolades for that. If he'd retired in '84 he would have "died" a hero. But he "lived" long enough to become the villain and damaged his own creation starting in '97. This seemed to be the fan consensus before the Disney purchase: O.T. = Good, Everything else = "Meh" or much worse. Now the internet's lack of nuance and the horror of the Disney era has birthed the revisionist idea that Lucas = Good, Disney = Bad, when the reality is that Lucas had already lost his way and only sold Disney a ruin of his original franchise (which they promptly burned the rest of the way down, then pissed on the ashes). It is a sad fact that George does not deserve our sympathy (except the the broadest sense as a hurting human being).

I got livid at 3:38. I'm not a big Star Wars fan specifically, but she said "the world of scifi and fantasy in general." Can you imagine enjoying something, a thing that brought you joy and comfort for a good portion of your life, to then have a tourist come in and tell you that it was never a "safe space" for you? The immediate thought that came into my head was "How dare you." Unlike this girl, I grew up in a time and environment where being a nerd meant the world of scifi and fantasy was sometimes the ONLY space you could feel comfortable in. I'd wager the reason it never felt like a "safe space" for her is because it wasn't a space, period, for her. The only time anyone judged each other was when someone brought up a really badly thought out conspiracy or saying they liked a character everyone hated. Like Jar Jar Binks in SWs. Nowadays people are instantly wary when I tell them I'm a SWs fan that also happens to be a woman. They expect me to be vapid, narcissistic, and super political. There’s genres for young girls (shojo), middle aged men (seinen) and middle aged women (josei), but I like shonen. Now we’re starting to see western companies come after Japanese media, trying to pressure them into changing to meet western DEI standards, with companies like Netflix and Sweet Baby Inc trying to strongarm them into changing to supposed “modern western tastes” and ideals. 🙄 Blackstone just bought out a Japanese digital manga company. You can watch anything before the sale. The animated series are really good, the video games can be hit or Miss but a lot of excellent, EXCELLENT games like KOTOR, Battlefield, rogue squadron, Pod-Racer, even the Force Unleashed is fun if a bit messy for the cannon. There truly was an expansive extended universe to lose yourself in. It was great growing up in the 90’s-2000’s as a Star Wars fan. I’ve been a staunch prequel defender since well before the Disney movies started coming out. Yeah, the dialogue is clunky. Metacloriens are weird. But it’s nothing that egregious, truly, and they’re beautiful films visually with a lot of heart and the same magic that made the original trilogy so special. The Star Wars FEELING is totally missing from the Disney output, with Rogue One being one of the very few bright spots, season one of Mando was pretty good, and I even thought Solo was fun. They go anywhere near Jedi and they fuck it all up. Why? Because the only thing they see in the Jedi is their power, and since they’re the centerpiece of the original story of Anakin and Luke they’re the way fans get to learn about the universe. So the Jedi therefor get the most butchered by the writers’ intentional, explicit, braindead and hamfisted political messaging. Some nobody rebellion team without any special powers who all die at the end? “Well if they all die I guess we can have a strong man… he’ll definitely die though, right?!”

For one, how are women and minorities actually unsafe? The claim is made that sci Fi and fantasy aren't safe spaces for them. How? How are they in peril? As for how inclusive they are, NO one is barred from these spaces, no one is discouraging women and minorities, and what it really comes down to is demographic preferences. Men tend to enjoy sci-fi and fantasy more than women. But, since feminists can't acknowledge that genders may have different tastes overall, here we are. And what it really comes down to is that they are intolerant of spaces that note men naturally gravitate to, especially if that space has a lot of money. It's OK if women have those spaces and money, but not men.

One of my most hated elements of modern intersectional culture (and there's plenty to despise, and I'm a brown ass latino chap), is the abhorrent abuse of the concept of "safety." Having to hear someone point out that you're not a talented writer/actress/or creator or disagreeing with your self-victimization, is NOT YOU BEING UNSAFE! Your feelings do not need to be protected and if you do believe hearing people who don't validate you and your shallow belief structure, is making your "unsafe" it just SCREAMS that you have never known what being in a situation that could actually physically hurt or even kill you is like. The girl who did that insufferable... rap? spoken word? rage twerking? video, is half white, all rich, and has never experienced a day of adversity in her entire life. I'm a latino dude from the upper middle class, and I haven't been held back because of my complexion. Not once. And I can tell, she's like me. I think the issue with these people with Star Wars is they internally have wicked hearts. Star Wars and Lucasfilm lived outside of Hollywood as an Independent film company. It was not mainstream cinema in the 1970s. For people to put Star Wars into the same group of male dominant Hollywood system is not a reality. It is certainly not true history. Science Fiction as a genre was not taken seriously by mainstream media in the 1960s and 1970s. Star Wars was successful as a franchise in spite of Hollywood. Disney was created outside of the Hollywood system. Animated films were considered children's stories. The comic book industry lived outside of the mainstream media in the 1960s and 1970s. All of the films cited by the women who are creating the new Star Wars were created by independent film companies in the 1970s and the 1980s. The only thing these independent companies have in common are they made a lot money outside of the Hollywood system. Star Wars A New Hope cost George Lucas 13 million Dollars to make. I think Phantom Menace was 50 million dollars. So any claim to create a new Star Wars for women because men dominated the industry in the past is dishonest at the core. Science Fiction as an industry was the only part of the industry hiring women in featured roles. For example, Wilma Daring, Kathy Gale, Emma Peel, Lois Lane, and Mina Harker. The Hammer Horror Studios and the Roger Cormon Studios all had women in lead roles. Ingrid Pitt comes to mind. In the scene in Star Wars a New Hope where the people are sitting around the conference table, all the men in the scene are from the old Hammer Horror Classics. I think the women making decisions for Star Wars, Marvel, DC Comics are not stupid people. They are trying to rewrite the history of modern entertainment for some unknown reason. I feel that what the story creators are doing is criminal. They seem to be making a premeditated decision to indoctrinate children into an ideology. It is essentially fanfiction porn with clothes on and no sex. These types of stories you tend to see in porn stories mainly because no one is really paying attention to the story. This next part is a joke. As a man, I do not understand why a woman would want to watch the current Star Wars. Also, I miss the old B-movie Bimbo Industry. I hope this all makes sense. Thank you.

The irony of the Lucas interview... "Its a story about people thinking they are doing good by creating a dictatorship to override what people have indicated they want, and how people go along with that." The people in charge are there because of central planning and quotas. We can look at history to see how that works out. These people have a materialist philosophy, the believe in force and matter, power and resources. We see multiple financial and social capital failures and no there is no accountability for the people in charge. I'm all for allowing people to learn from their mistakes, but they are not learning because they don't see themselves as having made a mistake. They see the world in terms of power struggles and the bigoted male fans are still oppressing the female production with their patriarchal finances. The way we used to manage things is to give people small responsibilities and see how they handle those, before moving them up. When a company is so large that failure can be hidden, this is what we get: power without responsibility and thus arbitrary decisions based on the whims of those involved.

Why are these people so obsessed with the concept of "safety". What does it mean? Like how are you unsafe at this very moment. Amandla comes from a rich family and is a hollywood actor. She is highly privileged and better off than 99.9% of us. In what reality does being in this position make someone feel unsafe? way does she feel unsafe? unsafe to do what? to be what?

X (for some X) is 'unsafe' because somewhere somewhen some activist told them it was 'unsafe' for some-unrelated-person (precisely how is never revealed; it's all about feels) that said activist was speaking for. It's like asking mexican-americans and spanish speakers what they think of 'latinx': none of them use the word and they all think it's stupid. The whole 'safety' schtick is just for activists and Karen-types to virtue signal about to show how Do Goodly they are.

Because victimhood is held now to be the highest virtue. The more points you claim on the punch card, the more moral you become. The more moral, the more you should be given control and influence. Victimhood as a pathway to privilege and entitlement, masked as virtue. Those who have actual power, control, influence and wealth must pretend and present themselves as if they had nothing. Otherwise the roving hordes of moral cannibals will descend on them and they will be eaten next. This is obviously not a desirable outcome, so they join the movement and try to guide the horde so that they eat someone else. As long as there's someone else to eat, they think they are safe. It's self preservation. They are the characters in the movie who will shoot the other survivors and leave them to the zombies in order to get more for themselves Then when confronted, claim they had no choice.

Lucas hits the nail on the head. What many people today do not understand, because they were not around at the time, is that Princess Leia was the breakout character of Star Wars back in 1977. Everyone LOVED her. They loved her attitude, her cleverness and her fortitude. They loved it when she sparred with Han Solo and Luke. She was the very image of defiance against tyranny. Her characterization was a feminism that worked. KK/Disney-brand Feminist Star Wars does not work. It's jealous people colonizing a legendary franchise for personal gain and self-aggrandizement, and it's every bit as ugly as the ideas that motivate it.

You nailed it when you said they can’t identify with people who don’t look like them and they think nobody else can either. When they say that having a black woman in a lead role means it’s finally for black women, they’re also saying that it wasn’t okay for black women to like it before, or that it isn’t okay for a white man like me to appreciate and look up to Princess Leia or Lando Calrissian, etc.

I don't think we have a need for more "female characters" because I don't buy into the notion that you can only resonate with a character if you are of that same person's race/ethnicity/sex/orientation/socioeconomic background etc.

I agree, I think the idea of "representation" being where you can only identify with someone or empathize if they're a clone of you has become absurd. I am native american, and I never saw protagonists who were indigenous growing up. I resonated with han solo, peter parker, and other characters that aligned with my beliefs and character, not my ethnic background. the color of your skin, or who you want to bang, aren't what defines a person. We aren't just jugs you fill up with 1 trait, we're human beings, and the fake "representation" that boils a life down to a specific factor "black, white, gay, trans" is a disgusting mistake.
