What you said about the sacrificing of the ten bulls - I totally agree. It is not on us to judge. We can say if we like something or not but it is their tradition and who are we to tell them what is ok or what not. I am in Germany. And when I looked at the ten bulls being killed I first had to swallow, too, but then again I thought: How many bulls die every day in our meat processing plants here in Germany? We just don't see the process of killing. We see the readymade meat in the shelfes in the supermarket and we get the impression that somehow, our way of living is less brutal. But when I compare it, there is no difference. When someone wants to eat meat, an animal has to die. It is way more honest, when the person who eats the meat, sees the living creature and how the meat comes onto our table. If we would be more connected to the circle of life and death as the people there, we maybe would appreciate our food a little more. I hope I expressed it right so one can understand what I want to say. Great video. Very very interesting.

i m not against your thoughts but the way its been slaughter is mind disturbing ... and we look at it as if we enjoy watching . i guess its not bad idea to change few things for good in culture rather than rubbing two stones to produce fire .........
@funnobunno4 жыл бұрын
@@ramgrg4846 Actually, for me personal ( I can only speak for myself) watching the killing of the bulls was anything but joyful. It was a very unpleasent experience. My point just was, that A) these animals are not slaughtered and then thrown away. They are eaten later. B) anywhere in the world animals are killed and often after having experience much more cruelty, be it the way they were kept in small bays a lifetime or be it the stress of being slaughtered itself The conclusion I made was just, that the way this tribe killed the bulls causes an unpleasent feeling in us viewers, who we are not used to seing animals being killed for consumption but (and that was my main point) we should not take this feeling of unpleasance and assume that the tribe is somehow less civilized or even more brutal than we. That was what I basically wanted to point out. If I gave a different impression, then excuse me that was not my intention. I think that the way this ritual killing of t he animals was shown was very decent (she never showed the actual act). And I think showing it this way is valuable because it documents traditions that are pretty possible will be extinct in a few years (and then the bulls die just the same way only that it happens behind brick walls and closed doors and the people eat the meat without having seen how an animal died for it). Also, in case my last sentence sounds sarcastic, that is not directed towards you, it is a general sarcasm about how we as human being in the modern world in general deal with our food and the fact that animals have to suffer for it. A way that often ends in a bigotry, where we think we are in any way more civilized because we have hidden the killing behind locked doors and just pick the meat from a shelf. for the record: I am a meat eater, I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I am of the opinion that we eat too much meat and that we want our meat too cheap. But that's a whole different story and would probably break the frame of this topic.

@@ramgrg4846 Actually, for me personal ( I can only speak for myself) watching the killing of these bulls was anything but joyful. It was a very unpleasent experience. But in my opinion that does not mean at all that it should not be shown in this video. And I also doubt, that the way this tribe deals with the animal is in any way like "rubbing stones at each other for fire". In how far is the way, the western world or any industrialized society, deals with producing their meat, any more civilized than how this tribe does it? Just because we mechanized the killing, and kill behind closed doors our killing is better or preferable? I really doubt this. Let me explain: A) these animals are not slaughtered and then thrown away. They are eaten later. B) almost anywhere in the world animals are killed for food and often after having experience much more cruelty than the bulls in the video, be it the way they were kept in small bays a lifetime or be it the stress of being slaughtered itself, actually I state, that C) the animals that got killed during this wedding were held in a way more civilized way than in industrialized environments. They had probably a better life and they had a fast death. The conclusion I made was, that the way this tribe killed the bulls does cause an unpleasent feeling in us viewers, who we are not used to seing animals being killed for consumption but we should not take this feeling of unpleasance and assume that the tribe is somehow less civilized or even more brutal than we. That was what I basically wanted to point out. If I gave a different impression, then excuse me that was not my intention. For the record: I am a meat eater, I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I am of the opinion that we eat too much meat and that we want our meat too cheap. But that's a whole different story and would probably break the frame of this topic. I just think that just because I pick my steak from a shelf in a neat plastic bag with a price on it, the meat is not less dead than the meat that the tribe ate. The animal that meat belonged to also did not suffer less than the animals the tribe ate at the wedding. Something else is taking place: I as a city-person have wiped all the unpleasent pictures and knowledge out of my consciousness. When I put that steak in the pan I can do that without "wasting" a thought on the animal that died for my steak. This lack of being connected to the way meat comes on out tables, leads to a lack of empathy for the creature in my opinion. When we are hones: how many of us waste a single thought on that meat on the table means the death of an animal or even change their eating habits? I understand your point, but I dont think that it has any sadistic or blood-lusty aspect, when such a ritual is shown in documentaries. When people search the internet for such scenes and enjoy them just because they enjoy watching creatures being killed, then that says only that something is wrong with the people who go hunting for kill videos on the internet. But the video we are talking about couldn't be further away from that. It is a documentary, which means it should depict reality as clear as possible. The way the "problem" of showing blood was solved, was very decent and professional in my opinion. If this ritual would not be shown, then the aithor would willingly have hidden an important part of this culture from us. And that would be sad. But, to make it short: I think we both agree in general moral. Regards!

First of all.. I didn't skip the ads :) Actually I even click the ads... This is such a undeniably well documented vlog... it is so much better than a boring documentary video and informative enough from a mundane vlog...You are one of the Best KZbin creator i have ever subscribed to.... The wedding ritual were so delightful and I venerate the GALO Tribe for perpetuating such a unique wedding... I'm from Nagaland and even our tribe (Ao Naga Tribe) use to kill Mithun/Gayal during wedding but now only the richest Ao's can hardly effort to kill one or two Mithun/Gayal and They kill TEN wow...This GALO wedding was not a simple wedding i think.... Your troubled voice @13:50 is understandable....Thank You so much for understanding, wish every travel vloger had the same level of understanding .. Lastly Thank You so much for the video and please do visit Nagaland once the Covid 19 situation gets better :-)
@leviackerman81554 жыл бұрын
13:50 Might be a cultural shock or it might seem unethical at first from our shallow judgmental attitude. It looks trivial when we think about how many million of cattles and fowl are slaughtered every day for satisfying the tongues of customers at McDonald's and other big enterprises that survive on killing these animals.

It's obvious for any visitors to have some cultural shocks while visiting another culture different to them. & It's not like Animal Sacrifices are good or bad, that's depends on the people's perspective influence by his/her own culture. For an instance, Eating Cow Beef are seen as Taboos for North Indian Hindu but Rest of the world eat that. Same goes with Halal & Haram tradition of Muslim. Belief or Idea of a person is mould by his/her culture. & Thanks for making this video, this video will always be useful resource for Galo in this fast changing world. Romy lots of migration took place centuries ago.. Sometimes I wonder the languages spoken by few thousand here might be spoken somewhere else too what do you think??
@romymongalini38384 жыл бұрын
@@Bluepanda555 Yes, there are some terms that are familiar with our local terms but are disjointed and need more exposure to connect. But when cultural practices are familiar, then the root could be the same.
@Bluepanda5554 жыл бұрын
@@romymongalini3838 We trace our roots to China but no concrete evidence to support the claim.. But what I evident is that we had nothing to do with India because nothing is similar lol
@brokeguy56074 жыл бұрын
@@Bluepanda555 These tribes are Tibetan when it comes to origin. They migrated to the foothills probably because of the harsh climates in southern and western Tibet. Most of the ornaments and jewellery used by the Tani tribes can be traced to Tibetan culture especially the Machete, some bells and plates.
