*shudder* Recommendation algorithms are getting deep. Was wondering about this just yesterday. Didn't express it anywhere.

Hey Sylvie, love your channel-deep, unique, varied, clearly explained, useful content! Had another nice moment recently watching your video with Yodkhunpon on guard retention when throwing knees. From a freestyle karate perspective-where everything’s trained to be martial, street-applicable-it was pretty cool to see that, even in Muay Thai, not compromising one's upper-guard and stomach-up torso posture can be the wiser thing to do. So those knees looked very much like ours, ’cept we didn't get the emphasis on the hip rotation when we learnt them, but I'll be including that from now on whenever I pass on our system… So… there, just know that you've influenced a rareified little street fighting system somewhere in Australia… Or Yodkhunpon has, idk!

I tell my male students, that they are suppose to hear their groin cup bang together. when they clinch. Which is really hard for some people.

Seems like having the hips in would open you up more to a wrestling style takedown.

Angrypolack I do agree with you but in this instance I think Sylvie was talking about purely Muay Thai where there are usually no wrestling style takedowns.

Hips back breaks your balance forward making throws and foot sweeps easier. So it's win some lose some. For pure Muay Thai hips is good.
