silent hill is very good at being overstimulating in just the right way, the sounds are so well done i'm loving this series! i think the shorter episodes are really working well, the edits have been so much fun! i think survival horror is a really good fit on this channel, it really compliments how you approach games. looking forward to the next ep!

16:51 so, Gyromancy is divination using spinning around, or walking in circles, until you wobble and fall over. It's usually done in a ring of letters drawn on the ground, and where you stumble over or which letters you step onto are read to indicate the answer to your question. The wikipedia page for Gyromancy even has a screenshot from this scene!

Which seems a bit random, but there's a symbolism with spinning wheels indicating a shifting between the worlds. So this is actually the perfect form of divination for these people.

watching youtubers completely new to oldschool survival horror games try this game out for the first time has me learn that majority will use guns most of the time and they will also get hurt alot trying to use melee weapons. Amber on the other hand seems to have honed her blade or should i say hammer haha. who knew her calling in life was as a dad looking for his daughter, short black hair, age 7.

The atmosphere in the beginning of the hospital before you enter the otherworld version is just masterful! It really sets the tone for what's to come, Yamaoka (composer and sound designer) is just in a class of he's on.

Honestly it's cool that kids would give games pre their time a chance. It's easy to write off the game for graphics or clunk but if there's a charm in older games that I think is missed in current games.

In regards to the cutscene you were told to skip - this might be late but, the menu cutscene for Silent Hill 2 has spoiiers in it, that's probably what people were trying to warn you about. I hope you're having a good time going through these games. This game in particular is very good for a PS1 horror game. The amount of exploration in this game is perfect imo.

Correct. Chainsaw and the Drill are second playthrough only, the gasoline only appears in a second playthrough and you can only use it in one of them. I really like the Drill since it can stunlock the nurses and doctors.

10:20 close enough, the loud radio noise means there is an enemy close by that is threatening. The small static noise USUALLY sounds when an enemy is beaten but still alive. If you don't finish those enemies they may stand up or respawn.

I believe that if you get mounted and you wiggle your joy-sticks the enemy lets go of you sooner. That is how it is in the old Resident Evil games, and the animation looks longer for you than for speedrunners, but iam not sure.

It is really different experience playing the game with or without the hammer (if you miss it or don't try it). From horror where you are hunted, it becomes action where you transform to the hunter!

it's been forever since I've played this, but I think you can get out of grab attacks quicker by mashing L/R buttons, face buttons and d-pad. worth a try at least..

54:49 It's just slower to swing than the metal pipe, and has longer recovery between attacks. IIRC most melee weapons have different attacks if you hit the attack button versus holding it down. If you go on to play the other games in the series, this is a good tip to remember!

The only thing I dislike about this version of the game is that they sped up the dialogue too much. It leaves out some of the intentional pauses and speech breaks. it seems like they cut out all of the dead air between sentences.

I believe the idea of the town (game) is based on a real Pennsylvania city called Centralia. The coal mine under the city is on fire. Burning for years and years. They had to move the people out due to unsafe conditions. Its a strange story and goes to show one act can cause a huge problem.

That's more from the Movie version than the game version of Silent Hill. In the movie it's explicitly stated that a mining accident started a fire, and it's shown that the 'snow' is really falling ashes. In the game it's just regular snow and fog.

The hammer is OP, you should play with other weapons, playing with hammer is basically playing easy mode

dont forget no summons and dont over level your character because its cheating. also don't heal, that's easy mode. and lastly make sure you don't use moonveil or the sellsword twinblades..now thats very easy mode!
