Awen, the druid equivalent of the force, it's everywhere and in everything...

Actually that is not the case - Nwyfre another welsh word perhaps is closer to the force. Awen is a flash, a spark an impermanent flowing like all inspiration and creativity- whereas the force is constant and without cessation- that runs through all life like qi or prana. Awen teaches us the nature of the spark, the three rays of impermanence and its beauty that illuminates and brings clarity. /|\

@TheMindOrchestra Nwyfre: Firmament, an archaic word. Best guess your looking for something closer to Nwydol or Nwydus maybe Nwyfiant whichever all closer to Passionate where Awen, the MUSE is permanent although to be fair as a source of inspiration it may seem to be just passing to some individuals it resides in everything, consistently. Seek it where you may.

Iolo is pronounced more like YOLO. Neo-druidism is a bit of a controversy here in Wales tbh. Morgannwg is viewed by many as a total charlatan. There certainly was a lot of uh... poetic license let's say, but he did achieve one of his original aims which was a revival of interest in the old ways and he preserved many aspects of our ancient traditions, including symbols, that might otherwise be lost to us now. Good video.

Well this was wrong out of the gate. Awen is Welsh, but its source is Greek by way of Latin. Greek αἰών (aion) became Latin αἰϝών (aeuum) then Old Welsh aguen and then Modern Welsh Awen but split off into such as Old English as Ages, originally means ‘life span’ and used in the sense of a duration of time generally. The oldest mention this concept in Welsh assumed to be a symbol only describes it in thick Catholic context of the time around 750 as three subdivisions extending from a single point. It was likely describing either the triple spiral or some other such triskeles, and careful reader of those sources catch on that it notes the concept of past, present and future but get shifted to claim it "probably" represented the Catholic Trinity. All the rest is nonsense invented mostly through later "Mystical Occult Fraternities." More of less wannabe types heaping on their own rhetoric and toying with etymology from the 1700s onward. It was Edward Williams who later renamed himself as Iolo Morganwg that created the "three rays" in 1792 which was only thee specific lines as a symbol of his "Secret Society" called the Gorsedd.Cymru Like many other such "societies," He was also one of the main sources to claim Awen meant "muse." In other words, shoddy scholarship. Other claimed it means essence or poetry, which shows all of them chose not to actually look at the facts and impose their own spin. He also claimed Gorsedd.Cymru was a rediscovery of an ancient order when in reality he created it all himself. The only "triad" concept this stuff regurgitates is fraud, fiction and fantasy.

Given the similarities, and the fact that Latin is derived from the Celto-Italic family of Indo-European languages it would make sense that rather than being derived from Greek and Latin , that the Cymraeg, Brythonic word derived from an older Indo-European source. Like for example, Laugh, Llew, Lugus, and Loki, Luke, Lucifer which derive from the older Luewk, meaning, bright, fire and oath.

It’s not a Celtic symbol, it’s Welsh. The Welsh are not and never have been Celtic. There is no such thing as a Celtic language, culture, ethnicity etc The Awen symbol is the letter A, it represents the alpha in the Alpha and Omega, the beginning, creation and therefore this can also be interpreted as inspiration because inspiration is the beginning of the creative process, it also represents the suns rays shining down, the sun rays been what creates. It is part of IAW ( | /|\ \|/) | being the equinoctial ray that represents God as the mediator and preserver /|\ being the creative symbol \|/ being the inverse of /|\ and therefore the destruction (the end, the omega) The /|\ above the \|/ combined creates the letter O When AW is at the end of Welsh words it is pronounced like O AW is Welsh means Fluid ; also a flowing. From this expressive root are derived all words that imply fluidity or the motion or action of fluids; and also immaterial qualities, as the impulse, emotion of the will, mind or soul. IAW at the end of Welsh words builds on AW and means that proceeds forward, that forwards, it is affixed as a termination to form the infinitive of verbs that imply, to make, to cause, to effect. \|/ (W, destruction) at the end of a word can mean the destruction of so for example Du is black/dark/gloomy and the destructor of dark is light, add W to Du and you have Duw. Duw means God, God being the bringer of light, God said let there be light and there was light, the beginning of creation, creation being A (/|\) Also each day starts when the sun (light) defeats/destroys the night (dark) Let there be light also being a phrase used as a metaphor for the spread of wisdom. Destruction is not always considered a negative thing. God (|) created light (/|\) and destroyed the dark (\|/) IAW one of the forms in which the divine is written. The preserver, the creator, the destroyer, life and death, the circle of life, the past, the present, the future. Awen - A + Gwen - The blessed A, the blessed creator
