After seeing this video I realized that Indian education system sucks so bad. This dude divided the video into three parts and explained the process going behind the mathematics. I can't say that I know the maths completely but now I do get the concept behind it while my stupid professor gave me 25 page pdf for the same and expected me to learn the derivation. This channel is amazing , Thanks a ton!!!

Thanks alot. I did read the Griffiths, but i didnt really got this problem with his explanation. Now its much more clear.

@ 0:04, I guess the expression for potential need to be switched .

I didn't get the argument for the same amplitudes in the solution. You said the amplitudes have to be the same, because they have to be normalisable. Could you elaborate on that?

The absolute value squared of the wave function at a given point x represents the probability of finding the particle at that point x. As the particle must be somewhere in space, the sum of probabilities over all possible positions must be 1. In this case, as we have a continuous variable, the sum becomes an integral. A wave function that obeys this is called a "normalized wave function", and the factors A and B are chosen such that the resulting wave function is normalized. I solved the same problem in a recent video, where I used complex exponentials as the trial solution, so that the equations look a little different, but the result is the same: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppO9f2uGmZ2el8U

Can we take n=0?

A bit late response :D But no, as that would mean energy is zero, therefore momentum being zero which isn't compatible with heisenberg uncertainty

@@TheIzugec and psy=0 is also not normalisable

Box Model Thanks for your video. Your viewers might enjoy seeing this visual aid. The sheet of spring steel buckled to a Gaussian curve represents a two dimensional field with the ends bounded. Seeing the mechanical effect takes some of the mystery of what the math is showing. Your viewers might be interested in watching the test video of the model.
