As self taught software engineer with bachelor degree in civil engineering and over two years of experience as contractor for Booz Allen and support the department of Veterans, everything she says is absolutely perfect. I am currently planning to jump into cyber security and my target company is the NSA. Let’s come on this comment between six to a year from now and give a big shoutout to Symone for all her hard work. Thanks a lot

When you talk about most ppl saying « govt work is boring » i agree that there are a lot of different contracts that have really cool tech stacks; really just depends on what contract your placed on.. my first job as a dev was super boring but now I’m on a contract that is very interesting 👍🏿

Depends on your mobility. . Washington DC fantastic for Job hopping in government.... Otherwise, you'll need to Clearance of some time to move from Govt role across states......but "Overall"... she's Right .. unlimited potential if you like $150,000& $200,000 money..... If you're a homer, or local person with family...you might be limited

GovTech is not COMPLETELY layoff proof. Depends on what branch and the contractor. I worked at BAE Systems and they did layoffs back in 2020. Then after I had left they did another round in 2023
@ericnwachukwu Жыл бұрын
True, but I think what she’s saying is that even if you do get laid off, there are so many other contract companies you can easily get another contract within 2-4 weeks. That’s if you put the work in, of course.
@anthonyprimm11076 ай бұрын
I had a buddy at BAE….. he said they were always hanging up issues. Layoffs aren’t normal in that field. Unless you suck.

What about the advantages of having a bachelor’s or masters degree in cybersecurity? I’m about to have my bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, with CySA+, Sec+, and Google Cybersecurity Certification with no experience and decent skill. Wondering where I should start and what to expect salary wise with those credentials.

Depends on the person and level. It can be 6 months to 1 year or so.

Probably just need a secret, but if you’re in the DMV you’re gonna want a TS/SCI. If you have a TS/SCI with a full scope polygraph, then you’d never have to worry about money or a job for the rest of your life

Hey Symoné! I love your videos! I also work in the cleared world as an engineer and I have a few questions. 1. How often do you recommend we hop between jobs? With a TS/SCI it’s so easy and there’s always a salary bump, but also I don’t want a resume with 10+ job changes throughout my career. 2. Have you found a job at a defense company that is not just charging hours? Every job I’ve ever worked is more or less In-person staffing at an on-site. Do you know of any gov contracting companies where it’s no staffing and there’s an actual product being developed? I live in the DMV and it seems almost every job is just staffing to a gov agency, what are your thoughts? Thanks! I appreciate your videos and advice
