I discovered Megaman very late. Never played it until he was announced for Smash Bros 4. Tried 2 in VC and now playing the entire Legacy Collections. Even without childhood nostalgia I realize these games have the best soundtrack in the videogames industry. It's just that good, and the games are incredibly fun for being from the 8-bit era.

That’s crazy we almost have the same story. Mega Mans reveal trailer looked cool as shit and I wanted to try his games out so I tried megaman 2 on the game boy from virtual console, and then eventually the first legacy collection on 3DS now I am a huge fan of the series and its soundtracks and it rocks

Well said man. I'm an 80's kid who had the privilege of growing up with the NES. I know by today's standards it's not much but man back then it was an amazing experience playing 8-bit games. I also grew up loving MegaMan ever since the first game that was released in 1988 and man do I wish that I could relive my younger days. You guys enjoy life and take care.

Can you imagine being Takashi Tateishi and Yasuaki Fujita? 30+ years ago these guys created the soundtracks to MM2 and MM3, respectively. Many consider these games to have some of the best video game music ever to be made. And now these guys get to watch people recreate their music into remixes of all kind, as well as covers like this incredible orchestra remake. Incredible.

Haha music alone - hasn't put a smile on my face that much for ages. Incredible to think now I'm familiar with most of the songs for playing original Game Boy version of Megaman 3 at the back of my parents' car - now havin' a walk outside what... around 20-25 years later hearing the same themes on Internet treated as great pieces of instrumental music making me very happy during pretty mediocre day. Life is full of surprises.

MM3 is the one OST that I can hum the entirety of without hearing it. I used to think that was because MM3 was the only Mega Man game I owned as a kid, but the more I hear from people in the community, the more I realize I was just lucky enough to have been able to grow up with the best of the series.

This is the best symphony version of Mega Man music I've heard. This is only the second one I've heard so it has an edge over the Sweedish take. That edge comes from incorporating more instruments that better captures and fills out the songs. Of course this is probably something the Sweeds were unable to do because of the size of the orchestra and the venue. The Sweedish approach seemed to be a more traditional in the sense that they used different instruments to play pieces of the song to create a build up and brought it all together in certain spots whereas this group is playing the whole songs as a group capturing more of the sounds from the 8 bit versions and its more familar.

I feel it's a source of secret exhilaration when there's a piece like this that requires an orchestral percussionist to "get on the kit." They are all such talented, versatile performers, and don't get a lot of credit for it. But music like this requires so much driving rhythm that it wouldn't have been the same without that guy on drums, especially the sweeping MM2 overture.
